We need to move on to other targets in that case.

We can’t just keep waiting about for other teams and players to make their minds up and let them string us along for weeks. This won’t end well.

You tell the player and his agent that they need to go to City TODAY, and create a big stink about wanting to leave, if not, we move on to other targets. We’ll see how badly he wants to leave after being left out the Brazil squad.

I don’t think they have any other targets. They’re in full panic mode now where the likes of Lange are worrying more about losing their job than improving the team.

My concerns is City are done. If Liverpool break, it leaves a free shot, IMO, for "them"

Yep.

City may have had their cycle. Without thr likes of prime Walker, De Bruyne and co, they are far from average, but I think you need not just quality but also leaders. I don't see that.

Liverpool are a Van Dijk injury from looking quite vulnerable. As for that filth West London club, I am so biased against them that I cant be objective

My spidey senses are telling me it will be Mainoo late in the window.

Given Sarr is going to AFCON for most of the winter, I can see Mainoo making some sense in that same 8/10 role that Frank has Sarr in.

The problem is what happens when Sarr is healthy, can they rotate there without signing a real 10.

Also, really doubt United outright sell an academy product who is good and actually CT in Europe. Think they’d prefer to sack Amorim before doing that.

Living a mile from villa park believe me Vills fans will go into a total melt down if Roger’s is sold - biggest fear amongst villa fans is the feeling that emery has lost the dressing room

They do look absolutely terrible though. They need fresh blood.
Playing 4 central midfielders the other day, one of which was mcginn.

They look a mileage away from the European fight. But to bring players in They would needs to sell surely?

That just doesn't make sense from ornstein!

Pep wants to trim the squad, he said that himself. Savinho is already touch and go to make the cl squad.
So by selling him and getting in rodrygo who will expect to start pretty much every single game just makes things worse for city and pep.

If they got rodrygo and he played 80% of minutes than wtf do all the other players get in attack especially as haaland plays nearly every minute too. Bobb, foden, marmoush, Silva, cherki, doku would be sharing a tiny amount of remaining minutes left.

It has to be horse shit!

I dunno, they are Youth and we recruited them? :adegrin2:

But yeah in terms of players coming through the academy we don't really seem to be getting it right do we.
Aside from a couple of names that crop up quite frequently, there definitely doesn't seem to be that much to get excited about across our academy age groups.

One area for example I'm completely baffled about is full back, we obviously have quite a significant gap there in the first team squad, and you'd hope that in a disaster scenario there'd be at least a semi-competent youngster that could step in, and yet I couldn't name one player from the youth sides that plays that position. Everyone seems to be a midfielder or centreback than can play there.

How has there not been a concerted effort from someone at the club to ensure that there is someone in line there? All we seem to produce is technically tidy cms, who don't particularly excel at anything.

Of all the hyped up kids out on loan this season, is anyone really expecting anything more than a few sales for ~£1m to Champo clubs with a sell on clause that might eventually net us another £1m or so, or repeated shit loans until we practically give them away?

If we'd kept Donley around for the season and given him a few minutes here and there, bearing in mind we have NOBODY for that creative midfield role, then as long as he didn't do anything actively disastrous for the side, by the end of the season he'd be a £30m asset.

It doesn't take much for these academy kids to become a big money spinner, but we don't do anything to put them in the shop window. Look at the youth we did play a bit since AVB era for example, Caulker, Townsend, Mason, Bentaleb, Winks, Skipp.

None of them are elite talents, they just got a bit of PL exposure, and we got around £100m in transfer fees for them. If you're telling me that nobody in the academy can live up to that legacy then yeah, there's something deeply wrong with our youth recruitment.

I wonder if its reached a bit of an impasse as Frank has said he doesnt want anyone that doesnt improve us, a bit like the Poch 2018 non window. The board just dont seem capable or willing of delivering on these sorts of players.

It will be interesting to see if Frank buckles last few days and just accepts any old tat for squad padding. I hope not. The powers that be need to up their game or get a huge amount of well justified shit thrown their way and dont want that nullified by chucking an El Kannouss, Garnacho,Harvey Elliott or worse at him.

Fair point.

I think that's why a player like Dibling, clearly with potential was probably seen as a future punt too far.

We can deduce a little of Frank's thoughts by his comments, which of course mean that we will seek a qualitative as opposed to qualitative approach

Early view of the PL this season, and way too soon is that a couple of players who are above the average level of our squad will put us in the top 4 to 7th mix. For now, I just think we get turned over by Woolwich, Chelsea, Newcastle (away from home), and Liverpool.

We need more physicality and a codebreaker.

Agree they are a mess at the minute I think that the sale of Ramsay for £40m+ has eased financial pressures - I think the fact that big hitters such as Martinez Watkins Roger’s and McGinn were all strongly linked with moves in the summer has unsettled the squad and emery is getting more deranged with every press conference could be difficult to turn it around

Don't think there is anywhere to move on to but Tel/Solomon.

It’s going to be Tel / Johnson / Odobert on the LW.

Tel is, always has been, our Son replacement.

We’ll probably try and scramble a cheapo number 10.
I reckon they'll be a deal for Paqueta, probably involving Bissouma and possibly Solomon as both clubs are desperate and need to be seen to be doing something. Even though neither club will shift the dial much its something they can point too to pissed off fans. That'll be it for us.
