Madrid is known to have a buy back clause of circa 7m valid for next couple of years.

So who is the bid going to - Como ? They cannot make a decision.

Its perfectly possible Spurs have asked both Como and Madrid abut Paz, but got no encouragement, so have not bid (despite the likes of Romano saying we have or night).

If we go to Madrid to ask , I doubt if they will say anything less than 100m ...... because they are not in a hurry to sell, he's at Como to develop. And he's not worth 100m atm.

So the player in reality is simply not available at anything other than a vastly inflated price which he may never be worth.

Isnt it strange that for things like the stadium, hotels, events etc we're ultra professional leaving no stone unturned, getting the best of the best and yet on the football side it seems to be a couple of idiots that no other club wants with a spreadsheet and a subscription to Wyscout.

Como themselves confirmed we did not make a formal offer.

That is not the same as did not make a bid.


A bid is “we would like to buy your player for x, are we able to talk to your player etc”
And even then they can allow us to talk to player despite not accepting the monetary terms offered.

A formal offer (which is what como refer to) is putting everything in writing including add-ons and payment terms, usually after your bid has been accepted, and you know the player wants to join you.

For people to say that we did not bid based on what he has said. Is totally misrepresenting what he said and misunderstanding the normal transfer process.

The problem is that fans are addicted to this shit so imo it will only get worse. Sky literally have a deadline day show. Spurs youtube channels are creating 2-3 videos a day talking about the rumours.

I’m not using it as a defence, or defending our transfer policy in anyway. It was used to show that even Liverpool have had issues getting two transfers done for players they clearly wanted, so there’s nothing to suggest they’d have fared any better with our targets.

I’m saying rather than the financials being the limiting factor, we haven’t identified achievable targets and rather than moving swiftly on once it bogs down, we don’t seem to have had back up options ready to go.

Our transfer business has floundered through poor target selection.

If Lange is the main man behind identifying the targets then he’s had an absolute mare and should go.
