Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I’m genuinely not angry with Tel. He’s done nothing wrong
He hasn’t and it’s very easy to forget the fact he is a 20 year old French kid moved to England and surely would need some time to settle. I think the fact he and Odebert can help each other will help speed things up. I am in no way writing either off at this stage. Add in the racism he just experienced and even more understandable. I’m perfectly willing to give Tel time. Instant impact, obviously not but that doesn’t mean anything. Chelsea wrote off KDB and Salah, City Palmer and there are many more. Far too early to bin Tel.

To me it just looks like they’ve made very little money available. It’s the most likely explanation and probably the right one. There’s absolutely no chance Lange and his team hasn’t got alternatives after the faux bids for MGW/Eze/Paz. Don’t fall into the trap of laying the ultimate blame on Lange Even someone like Ramsey would have been a good option either playing off the left or AM. this is all on the owners

Was this not the period then the club seemed to relinquish the proverbial 'vision' to sponsorship-led drive to get Ronaldo in which meant the likes of Rabio & Ramsey were just cheap deals to help plug gaps left behind cos Ron was so expensive......?
They weren't cheap deals at all though. Ramsey was on 400kpw and it was some huge number for Rabiot too.

The theory from Paratici was that because free transfers had no transfer fee cost, they could just bid them up to astronomical wages and they would still be "cheaper" than acquiring an equivalent player with a transfer fee.

Then those became albatross contracts they couldn't shift because no one else could afford the wages.

But Paratici was also the guy who came up with the way they could get Ronaldo with all the agents and sponsors and third party interests around that circus. Beppe Marotta reportedly laughed him out of the room when he first proposed it.

That's the yin and yang of Paratici.

I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with tbh.
I don't know if you even said it, but Levy, Paratici, and Lange cannot all operate at the club at the same time.

Everything you don't agree with is 'Straw-man'.

Nope...... You projected an opinion onto me in order to have a jab.

Yet fwiw; I gave you my actual opinion anyway.

Looks at his record, the signings he's made and the money spent on them, and it's beyond grim reading. Tel and Solanke costing upwards of £100m+ is malpractice.

I'd love to be proven wrong with him, I just don't see any redeemable qualities. Everytime I ask the likes of you why you think he's going to be great, I get absolutely nothing back.

Not once have I said he's going to be "great"; or even "good" for that matter........ Once again that merely a strawman. Yes; a strawman.... Perhaps you just don't realise you're doing it?

Perhaps stop trying to 'own' me and just have a normal convo.

Kids got everything to prove. I don't sense much support coming his way though.

what a reveal

Come on, some of the goals were beautifully taken. Clean hits, both feet, first time, long rangers. He has something there but his confidence right now looks absolutely shot to bits.
so good bayern couldnt wait to get rid. 60m then in no time at all taking 40, i bet they would have taken 10.

thats a club that for well over a decade have had top wingers, i think they would have an idea on what a good winger looks like.

Its the perfect and easy get out for if we dont get any deals for quality players over the line isn't it?
Good old deflection and a fall guy.

Another Levy failure, he can't survive much longer, hes dragging the whole club down with him.

What role in all this does Peter charrington play?

We didn't spend 40mil on Tel...we took that out of what Bayern still owed us for Kane. It wasn't new money.

Same with Palhinha.

And of course both were gonna stay on a permanent, it was just so Levy could save even more money for a few months...creative accounting and all that.

Their level and the fact both massively flopped at Bayern doesn't matter one bit. Levy won them deals, that's what's key.
WTAF has that got to do with the ability of the player. He still cost us £40m....not really intererested how it's entered in the balance sheets and has nothing to do with what was posted.

My impression was more broadly that he had relinquished a degree of control at that point and that the suits had more pull than before... I don't profess to know the minutia.

I don't know if you even said it, but Levy, Paratici, and Lange cannot all operate at the club at the same time.

If that was to have worked (note; past tense!); Lange would have had to have accepted a reduction of his 'power'.

..........But fine-tuning that 3 man structure is what I believe we need.

Fuck knows where VV fits into all that though; like Munn I'm not sure if he has any influence on the football side.

It's WAY worse than just deciding they don't feel like signing any players.

Just not having an operating recruitment department at the business end of the window? For the second time in six years?

Levy should be sacked for that, and would be in any other kind of business. Flagrant dereliction of duty.

You replied with a load of nothing's and false equivalencies as you usually do.

So you agree that he's not very good, so why argue? I agree he has everything to prove, what I take issue with is that even after a woeful loan display, we put up big boy money for him. It was a farcical waste of resources and not an adequate replacement for what we had. I don't care about him, I'm not invested either way on him, I'm angry that this signing will more than likely impact singing players who could've helped in the present.
