Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

I genuinely don't rate him at all and he had one of those seasons, out of the blue that it just clicked. Like that Spanish fella at Swansea.

Liam Delap cost around that, I'd far rather have him than Dom.

Fact is, paying £65m for a striker that scored a whopping 28 goals in his last 103 PL games before we signed him, is an absolute travesty.
He’s a good player, does everything well apart from scoring enough goals to be top class. Does a lot of work for Johnson as an example, that enables him to play off the ball and run in behind.

Delap is a scruffy player, no first touch. Will not make it at Chelsea

You’re forgetting the genius logic that said if he scores 19 in a year for Bournemouth, they are shit. Just imagine how many he will get for us?

I read that a few times. 😀

I think people are going way too early on Solanke
Why? He is what he is. A forward that should be a rotation piece for a top side. No real stand out quality's other than pressing. Clearly not fancied by Frank either.

Look down the league last season from 1st down. First place I have him as a nailed on starter is Everton at 13. That says everything you need to know.

I don't think he's a top striker but I don't think he was used properly last season at all hence why I think people are going too early, he should be much better this season in a stable system.

BTW I'd rate him alongside Havertz give or take, he's better in some aspects and Havertz is better in others - yet he's in rotation for them and was their starting ST when they nearly won the league 23/24

How would Paratici have saved the MGW saga, and Eze going to his favorite club.

This Summer has been far from a 'total failure'.
He could have not, or advised Levy to not bid the exact amount of MGW's release clause, make a bid a few million more, in such case the confidentiality matter would have not stood. We'd have still got MGW for less than Forest wanted because we'd have triggered the release clause and say an extra £5m to circumnavigate the confidentiality issue. So Forest couldn't claim we new about the release clause.

Oh, I remember that. Also remember when he came, it didn't quite pan out that way.

I have no faith he'll score when he plays. When I saw the few being banded about, I was disgusted, and I was just on Reddit at the time and they were all delighted with it. It was a disgrace and even half that is questionable.

Before pen was put to paper, it was so obvious he'd need replacing sooner rather than later.

Genuinely though it is far too quiet these past two days, basically nothing come out.

I think Levy probably had a meltdown about looking like a mug after the Eze/Paz sagas and they’re freaking out

I just refuse to believe that we’ll actually sign no one before the window ends. That would be a level of gross incompetence and malfeasance even beyond my worst fears. But as of now, no deals look close at all, do they?

I think were trying, we must be. I absolutely hate levy and co but even im backing him to make something happen simply because if he doesn't the optics will be soooo bad, perhaps the worst ever.

Fwiw (probably little) the general consensus on Bluemoon is that savio is likely to leave and that his head has been turned and that they really need to reinforce the defence as there short in numbers (ake, akanji off) and getting donnarumma over the line.

Forest weren't letting go of MGW no matter what we bid.

People say this, we didn't give him chances etc. BJ scored nearly 20 goals, most of which were from about 2 yards out. And he had chances, he just couldn't score them.

He doesn't fit this system really either. Richy is better at holding up the ball, and knows where to be. Richy's issue has always been fitness, and for that season he was suicidal, clearly his head wasn't in it.

He's more expensive deadwood that we panicked into signing. Hos replacement at Bournemouth is a far better player, we just don't recruit very well.

Not too early to be wrong though and I'd be delighted for Mathys to do so to all his (especially me) detractors.

Constructive criticism is a million miles away from abuse as is the difference between hating and rating.

Fing is there is very little evidence to critique about atm because he hasn't really shown anything.

The comparison with Tel and Archie is relevant only in the sense that one was buy before you try and the other was the opposite.
Fair.
For all those reasons I don't get excited about every Harry, Tommy, Mike and Nabil that came through the academy.
Teen-early 20s is oft far too young to know either way.
