Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

There WAS rotation early last year.

Frank will rotate better in terms of tactics but purely on numbers, we are headed straight to the same problem
Not very good rotation, for fullbacks, a position that is run ragged in Ange's "system", Porro and Udogie started every league match up to Bournemouth on 5th December.

He made wholesale changes for the Europa Group Stage, that's not effective rotation in my book, you just end up with 11 players looking like strangers.

Most of his changes to the League lineups were forced by injury or suspension.

Frank fielding a midfield of Gray and Bergval on the opening day was a matter of spotting an opportunity to use the backups at home to weaker opposition, allowing them to integrate with the regular first teamers, not just another 8 back ups, and not just waiting until the first choices are either broken or knackered.

If he keeps that up we should benefit not only from fewer injuries/fresher players, but also from the stand ins actually being in tune with the other players when they are called upon.

I should hope we'll see similar with Solanke/Richarlison, and also the wide players, though with them the worry for me would be that none of the others can really replicate what Kudus is bringing to the table.

Kudus probably won't score a bucket load of goals but, the team will score plenty because of his contribution. Sometimes goals and assists, although incredibly important, don't always tell the whole picture

Serie A isn’t a serious league, multiple players have flopped out the Prem recently to become some of the best in the league there.

Obviously we’re already talking about Lookman, but McTominay is a monster there. Lukaku resurrected his career there, twice, after flopping at two different top 6 sides. Smalling was good for Roma. Loftus-Cheek, Abraham, even Darmian’s another. (Jesus, so much ex Utd). Long story short if you ever flop in the Prem, run to Italy, and you’ll be quality. Cannot believe Douglas Luiz didn’t work out tbh, but current Juve are a mess. If Johnson ever ended up there he’d probably end every season on 30+ goal contributions, and that’s who we’re trying to improve on.

On top of all that, Atalanta players generally perform way worse when they’re not being managed by Gasperini anymore. For me, it’s a big, big pass on Lookman.

We bought Romero, Kulusevski and Bentacur,Vicario and Destiny from there? All pretty much turned out to be hits

And the fact you've mentioned Douglas Luiz who didn't work out there there just tells you that generally there's no rule when it comes to players going from the Prem to Serie A (Kyle Walker also flopped there as well)

And even if you don't take the league seriously Lookman bagged many times in the CL and a HT in the EL final.

Playing his ability down based on these thoughts regarding other players is a bit silly.

Rubbish.

What about other clubs?
Liverpool: VVD, Konate, Leoni, Gomez
Chelsea: Colwill, Chalobah (academy), Disasi, Adarabioyo, Badiashile, Fofana
United: Maguire, De Ligt, Martinez, Yoro.
Woolwich: Gabriel, Saliba, Mosquera, Kiwior.

City are the exception. Being juiced allows them to have 5+ options of note.

Defending champions Liverpool last season had academy products Quansah and Gomez as 3rd/4th choice. 18yo Leoni having replaced Quansah this season, a move for Guehi looks off until next summer. Guehi needs consistent play time to make Tuchel's team.

Chelsea have two academy products and then 4 other options. 1-2 of which they'll look to offload.

United arguably have 4 average options.

While at Spurs VDV and Romero are genuine quality. Danso is 3rd CB so someone coming in would be replacing Dragusin as 4th CB.

Woolwich going for Hincapie is to replace Kiwior and have Hincapie as their 3rd CB. Not 4th.
So my query still stands. What club is spending big on a 4th choice CB?

Failing that we're fine sticking with the group we have now.

We preferred you when you couldn't talk

What's Harold Bishop been teaching you, is he ENIC out as well?

Couple of those listed are still injured and not played no preseason and doesn't help if playing 3 at the back.
Gray and Palhinha shouldn't be anywhere near playing in defence

I'm not ruling out an incoming CB since there's been noises of us wanting one ever since Frank arrived

But let's be real. We don't need to replace Vuskovic 0 minutes of competitive football for us. Some have gotten a bit carried away about a friendly against Reading. The coaching staff will have assessed him in training and deemed his footwork too slow for the league. Makes sense to send him away for further development

I've booked Monday off work.

Deadline day is going to be insane.

Dharmesh Seth will be outside Spurs Lodge and the fans will be chanting "Rogers".
