Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We;ve been trying to sign Xavi Simons all summer. Was our top target before MGW became available, so we pivoted and in that time Chelsea stole a march on him.

I sincerely hope we can do this and avoid Chelsea hijacking us, we can't be mugged off a third time.

But he would be the best possible 10 we could sign.

Man if we got him and Salvinho, our attack is completely transformed.

Have we?

If Chelsea want him they'll get him. They've all the ground work done. We are coming in with a late panic offer.

Its the same as the Eze situation. We need to hope that chelsea don't get involved and we close the deal soon. Once again, we are sitting ducks for a hijack. But we've been embarrassed so much this summer that whats another embarrassing hijack? At least we are attempting to get him (if reports are true). Assume we'll pretend we didn't want him if Chelsea match our bid.

Anyone feel confident about the Xavi Simons deal? :levylol:

Positive news lads.

Trix on SC has said the following re Savinho
" already know what the replies are going to be so no point @-ing me because I'm only passing on, but we still think this is one is a goer."

Get your donations in now.

Suspect this positive post is because once the window shuts and we've signed fuck all players the donations will stop so they are trying to get as much as they can before Monday evening
Why do people give them money lmao. Send these idiots my way.

If Chelsea actually make a bid and have space, yes they'll get him. We've been talking to the players camp all summer though, it's not a late panic bid.

He's been our top target for number 10 but the player has been hanging on for Chelsea. If he had chosen us, we'd have signed him a month ago.

I don't blame the club for hanging on to see if there is a possibility we can get him in, even if it's a slim chance. Better than giving up and blowing a load of money on Paqueta for example, when we feel he's not as good a fit.

I am sure the club will have a deadline and if it looks like it's a definite non goer, we'll pivot to someone like Paqueta or another target.

Yeah, this really seems like a potential Eze 2.0.

If we do get into talks with Simons and “get close”, you can be sure Chelsea will 100% swoop in and get him signed.

I can’t see why they’re trying to get players knowing they have their heart set on a move elsewhere.

Don’t we have any scouts that monitor more than one player at a time?!

I didn't know any of this. So he was our main target once MGW deal fell apart but we didn't move on it because Chelsea were his clear preference? I heard he wants big wages - prob in the 200k region.

Deflecting what??

1 in 4 games doesnt tell the story at all - you know it doesnt - you have to look at minutes on the pitch - and if you want, you can compare his XG and XGA to others in the prem too to give a picture of who is creating more and having the better chances....

Non pen XGA per 90 last season - 0.54 - Cunha was 0.57, Watkins 0.59, Johnson 0.52, Joao Pedro 0.46.
XG per 90, he was 14th in the entire league with 0.45 -

Again 14th in the league. I'm arguing he's bang average, this solidifies that. He also underperformed his xg by over 3 goals, which shows that he doesn't actually finish his chances, which there were plenty of.

Why do you love mediocrity so much? Like you absolutely love it, it's very strange.

He’s the one number 10 that’s available and maybe gettable, that’s on the level of a Eze or MGW. Maybe slightly more of a gamble than them due to not having played in the league and some concerns over his attitude, which is more based on him not sticking about at one club for very long than anything more concrete, but he probably has a higher ceiling than either of them ability-wise.

If he adapts to the league and reaches his undoubted potential here, he’ll be a Bale/Modric level footballer for us.

We should be be sending in Paratici to try and charm him, tell him he’ll be the main man, posterboy of the club, we’ll build the team around you etc. If we send Lange or the bald one in to meet him, we’d be as well not bothering.

Spurs are desperate to add a new attacking midfielder after missing out on deals for Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White

Tottenham Hotspur are holding talks over a bid to rival Chelsea for Xavi Simons.

Simons has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time with the club wanting to offload Nicolas Jackson or Christopher Nkunku before pressing ahead with a move of their own.

Chelsea have also been evaluating a move for Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez, which may open the door for Spurs to try to move to the front of the queue for Simons.

Tottenham have been interested in Simons for some time and there is optimism he would be open to a move to north London, despite his apparent interest in joining Chelsea.

Having missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, Spurs are desperate to land at least one new attacking midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

Simons wants to leave RB Leipzig this summer with the German club valuing him around £60m, which Tottenham were willing to pay for Gibbs-White and Eze.

There will be some nervousness within Tottenham, however, about formally bidding for Simons and being hijacked by Chelsea, given they missed out to Woolwich on Eze.

The likelihood is that Spurs will only make an offer if they believe they can quickly close a deal and minimise the threat of Chelsea stealing Simons away.

Tottenham are also interested in Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche and Como’s Nico Paz, while a deal for Manchester City winger Savinho has been difficult to negotiate.

Simons can play centrally as a No 10 or off the left or right and will perfectly fill the void in head coach Thomas Frank’s Tottenham squad.

Chelsea’s interest in Simons has prompted interest from RB Leipzig in re-signing Nkunku and that could yet be a factor that comes into play.

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho remains a target of Chelsea, while Jackson has interest from a number of clubs including Bayern Munich, Aston Villa and at least one other big Premier League club.
