Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

No way am I getting my hopes up.

It's really hard not to as we are so desperate but I am just expecting him to go to Chelsea.

I just can't see why he would suddently pivot to us when he's been for Chelsea all summer.

I feel we are being strung along as a back up option.

I just hope the bald one pays the money and gets a head start on things. Please don’t fuck about for 3 days offering £50m over 50 years, a multipack of ready salted and 2 guest passes to the cheese room.

£60m is a snip for the boy in this market, just get it done!

This is all leading up to a deadline day scrap, for whatever crumbs are left.

I was thinking about the Simons last night in bed (make your jokes). I said we would never get Eze or Savinho and so far I have been proven right on that point.
However, on Simons, I just have this feeling that we can get it done. Chelsea have been hanging about waiting to raise cash to appease UEFA. There are various accounts that Simons has a bit of an ego, perhaps that is unfair, let's just call it confidence. I put myself in his position and I am getting pissed off with Chelsea. This deal has been agreed for weeks. Now, Garnacho is seemingly ahead of Simons in the pecking order. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns round and tells Chelsea to do one.
I must caveat this by saying I still think is unlikely we get this done. I was 0% on Eze and Savinho; I am 25% on Simons.

Johan Lange is back from his overseas holiday, fresh and revitalised. Time to start looking at the piles of data that have been on his desk the last month.
The curious thing about Lange is he came with the m.o. of identifying rough diamonds and turning them into polished gems....

So far it looks like something has been lost in translation or he's completely misunderstood the brief of 'making a silk purse out of a sow's ear' and ended up making a 🐷' s 👂of it.

I don’t believe we will get Simons , but if we do I will not be thanking Levy for doing his job for which he is handsomely rewarded .

I filled my car up this morning and I didn’t thank the CEO of Shell for having petrol available

At his level, age etc - he is going to make millions regardless of where he goes

I would want him (or any player) to really think about the game, about playing, about how they can fit into a team and thrive etc...

(none of which is to say he should come to Spurs, only that Chelsea is a ridiculous place right now...)

To be fair, Id want any player to back themselves

I just think theres a bigger picture aspect to it as well. Chelsea already have the strongest bench in the league, because they have so much attacking talent they cant accommodate in the team...

Simons has got like 10m left on his current contract. A club like Spurs might offer him 10m a season for 4-5 years, 40-50m.
Chelsea might offer him a 9 year deal worth 3x that in total.

He's 22 with probably 10-30m career earnings, a few years out of youth football, agent and family pressure with a contract on the table worth 150 million potentially. All he has to do, as a 22 year old, is back his own ability to succeed at the club which I'm sure they all do.

Yes he would make millions anywhere but the difference of 40 to 150m is 110 million, or whatever the offers would be. That's an insane amount of money to expect a 22 year old, likely from a relatively poor family, to turn down.
