Do we know for certain that Chelsea are offering him 200k? We just know that’s roughly what he’s on now after bonuses (I think?); Chelsea’s thing has been to give all these kids ~150k/week for 10 years. Obviously the total volume there is much more than we can (or are willing to) stump up but it’s vaguely conceivable that offering him 200k/week for 5 years (with the baked-in possibility of one more big money move) while getting to be a nailed on star player in our side (as opposed to fighting with 3-4 other players in his position) isn’t automatically a losing proposition.
