This is the kind of ITK bullshit that works either way though, if he stays at City its "they refused to let him go, I was right though"
If we do happen to sign him then he also takes credit for being "ITK"

Think there's a lot of us oldtimers out there who totally agree with you.

Holding up the shirt on our official site, is the ONLY confirmation for me these days 😉

And it's actually sad that our fanbase are so starved of positive transfer news these days, that we celebrate any signing like it's prime Pelé we have signed 🥺

The pressure on this boy IF we get him will be crazy.
We really aren't starved of positive transfer news when you think about it. With Simon's, we now should have 3 players who step straight into starting contention. Hell, Palhinha and Kudus have already hit the ground running, so we could say that this will be 3 needle movers, if they perform consistently as expected.

It's not hard to understand the mindset of the transfer junkies. Already, before the ink on his contract has dried, we have posters on here pining for the next transfers. It's like a bunch of addicts lined up outside the Chemist, at 7 in the morning, because they've run out of Methadone, only it's dopamine for the transfer junkies. The Football is secondary for them.

So, 3 solid signings that elevate the first choice 11, let alone the squad and bunch of highly sought after young talents over the last 2-3 seasons, and that's not even taking into account the signings of VDV, Spence, Udogie, Vicario and Solanke in that time.

Simons might not be the 'final key,' but he certainly knits into that midfield as a key player who should raise its level.

Savinho would, I think, elevate that frontline further, then it's just really about making sure we have that one extra FB/WB for either right or left. With the way Spence has made LB his to lose, I'm thinking it's at RB we need to bring in someone else, then we have a squad with real depth for all 4 competitions imo.

That hasn't happened by chance, no matter how much whingeing is peddled on here about Levy, Lange and everyone else down to the tea lady. We've now spent close to 3/4 of a billion building this squad, which is of an age where it should grow and get even better over the next few seasons. Instead of having the odd "potentially World Class" youngster like Bale, or Modric, we have a plethora of them.

The only reason some Spurs fans feel "starved" of positive transfer news is because they keep turning their noses up at sumptuous meals, as they weren't cooked by Michelin chefs and cost a fortune.

Lovely news to wake up to.

Gives me something to smile about on my 24 hour journey home.

3 hour transfer to Rio airport
3 hour wait in airport
12 hour flight to Heathrow
2 hour wait
4 hour national express to Cardiff

Plenty of time to watch compilation clips!
Sounds like a lot of time to watch Xavi Simons comps

Ake would be a really sensible addition. I’m not sure how much more game time we can offer over city baring injuries but if he’s keen at 30 a two year deal would be a great placeholder.

Savinha is the one really, would be very exciting. I’m not at all sold on lookman in truth (and I was there in Dublin when he scored his famous Europa league hat trick).

Haven’t seen much of Fofana or Akilouche, think the latter is more central but can play both wide right and left

Interesting weekend ahead.

Hijack Hincapie and bring in Savio over the weekend and we’d be cooking.
From everything I’ve read / heard, Hincapie is one of the brightest CB prospects in Europe; he’s got to know that he only plays if Micky gets injured, surely? Is he really going to want to come here to warm the bench for Micky (and with Romero on a new long contract and seemingly bought in to the Frank project)?

Savinho* on the other hand, can see a starting place in a champions league team

* my iPhone autocorrected Savinho to ‘Savings’ lol …

Xavi Simons genuinely reminds me of Madders, a 10 who likes to take full creative responsibility in build-up, picking the ball up off the centre half and orchestrating attacks.

Both super shifty and quick, using their low centre of gravity and excellent ball striking. Sure they’re small and not particularly elite athletes but much stronger than they look and absolutely fearless.

Best possible Maddison replacement.

Imagine we're playing at home under the lights in the CL. We're 3-0 up after 65 mins and Frank makes a 5-way substitution to rest players for a big league game at the weekend. Off come Simons, Kudus, Johnson, Richarlison and Sarr. On come Kulusevski, Odobert, Tel, Solanke and Bergvall. Depth.
