Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Was he really a 6 year deal?

If so then, yeah it was basically the same.

Inflation probably has Tanguy edging it tbf

Simons is a much better deal though
While we have broken the club transfer fee record on other players, those having been older PL veterans on lesser wages put them in sort of a different category in terms of financial and risk profile..

Ndombele was a bit more money staked in terms of wages + fee amortization for a number of years, especially when you take into account inflation, but this is really the first Ndombele-like deal we have had the courage to do since.

That's progress. You can't win if you don't play.

If this ends up being a good transfer window, let's not be so quick to forgive and forget Levy's mostly 23 years of football failures. He didn't give managers that long to put in a good show.

It's not the first time Sherwood's been wrong about newly bought Spurs players....

Sherwood unsure about Van de Ven

Speaking about Tottenham’s defensive options, Sherwood said: “It’s not about individuals at centre-half it’s about partnerships.

“I hoping that [Micky] Van de Ven is the answer. To me he looks a bit wooden, I think he’s very quick, he’s six foot five.

“I’m just saying what I see, I don’t know a lot about him, hopefully, he’s a lot better than what I think, but he looks very wooden on the ball.

“Quite slow on the turn, very quick in a straight line, enormously quick."
and Porro too - that gooner cunt slating a spurs player is about as ringing an endorsement of their utter brilliance as one could hope for - am even more excited for Xavi now

Villa have usurped our league position the past 2 seasons, however Tel is good enough they should he hot for him but not good enough for Spurs?

The logic pretzels some do in order to shit on our own players....
Villa's league position over the past couple of seasons is, in part, a result of their 97% wage-revenue ratio. They have punched above their weight and now they are facing financial difficulty because of that fact.

Selling one of their biggest assets to take the pressure off is something they're probably considering.

Tel being offered on loan is admittedly, a bit tongue in cheek. My point is that at this stage of the transfer window the likelihood of a club allowing a player like Rogers to leave probably goes up if they are given somewhat of a replacement(ish) at the same time. LW for LW. Obviously Rogers play more centrally at times for Villa so that doesn't work.

But still. It's a dream scenario. Dreams aren't logical.

That's like saying that Bilbao didn't make up for 17 years without silverware.

Maybe not, but it felt SO FUCKING GOOD that moaning about the past just made some look, I dunno, pointlessly frumpy while everyone else had an idiotic grin on their face for days.

So now, what would you rather do, be excited about what Xavi Simons can bring to Spurs or wallow in the years when we signed no one or swapped Berbatov for Fraizer Campbell?

Sod all this talk about Savio and Rogers, I want Rodrygo now

I suppose you don’t cheer Tottenham goals because after all the players are paid to score them?
Well I wouldn’t if they scored one having scored 156 own goals in the previous 25 seasons , would you ?

EDIT:

Underperforming players get sold , underperforming owners hang around like a stale fart . So I am happy with the window but no I won’t be praising him . But one can be happy , very happy without feeling the need to praise Levy .

Can anyone explain why Rogers is so highly rated?

He looks ok but hardly worth the suggested sums.

He scored or assisted 18 in the premier league when he isn’t on any set pieces and all his underlying numbers for creativity are excellent. For context, Eze scored or assisted 16 while on set pieces and is four years older yet still cost a huge chunk of change.

He’s not just a numbers player like a Brennan either. The guy is incredibly fun to watch and one of the best ball carriers in the league. He creates havoc.

In addition he contributed to 6 UCL goals. So all round, why wouldn’t he be so highly valued? Young, English, exciting to watch, productive at all levels, England international. He’s an absolute gem of a footballer.
