Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Saw more potential in him, as a footballer, but didn't think he was going to be good enough for us, in the beginning.

The crux is, harry had far more potential than Tel.

This isn't hard to understand.

Whether I thought he was going to make it here or not is irrelevant.

He had more overall effectiveness, impact and fundamentals, relative to Tel.

He more comprehensive ability.

My day is going very well, thank you (apart from that match).

Keep trying tho, if you must.

I think you're not Quite understanding which one of us is doing the digging.
Did you think that when he went on loan to Norwich at 19 and got no goals in five appearances?

I was at the club in 2010-2011 working with academy coaches and there was no one betting that Kane would have half the career he had.

It’s all hindsight.

Xavi, Kudus and Pahlinha are great signings. Problem is our rivals are making more great signings than us and they were already ahead to begin with.

For every 1 good player we sign, they get 2 or 3.

That would mean they have all signed 9. Filth might have boughtn8 but they aren't all great, but neither are ours, or let's say we dont know as yet.

My view is that it's folly not to expect blips, which won't always come at obvious times. Yesterday was one such occasion, but as soon as the news of no Solanle, I thought and no strike option - not good.

A ball carrying quality midfielder and an attacking option before close of play Monday would move us up a notch. Unlikely.

Palhinha is a proper 6.

A proper 6 who unlocks defenses and generates attacking threat is just Rodri, and we'd need to launch a paramilitary invasion of the UAE to get him.

I’d love us to have a world class 6, but think Palhinha was probably the very best we could do this summer.

It’s basically Rodri and Vitinha.

Proverbial rocking horse shit.

I really think we definitely could and should have done better than a 30yo Palhinha. And it would be an absolute piece of piss to upgrade Bentancur. he wasn't even good enough for a declining Juve in (a slower) Serie A three years ago.

Nah that’s an excuse.

I don’t even know who played 6 for Bournemouth today and they were able to win the ball and move it forwards.

Palinha didn’t even do a good job of winning the ball today, he got absolutely roasted by Alex Scott and missed a bunch of tackles

Tyler Adams was the busy cunt, but they had him and Alex Scott as a CM2.

I don't think Adams is elite level but I'd have swapped him for Palhinha and Scott (who's a Spurs fan) for Bentancur.

Bergvall is better than Sarr as a 10

He’s better than Bentancur and Palinha as an 8 as well

Not hard to be better than Sarr as 10. Or bentancur as an 8, but Bergval is overrated. Don't hate the kid, he's a trier, but he's erratic with and without the ball. He;s no 10 either. He's an 8 on a good day, but only in a CM3, you can't trust him as one of the pivot, he's too scattergun, takes too many touches in the wrong areas, first touch lets him down sometimes and he's indisciplined without the ball.

I don't trust Langes player judgement particularly and I certainly do not trust Postecoglou, I said quite early I don't think he knows what an elite EPL footballer looks like. Tel, Odobert, Johnson. If your stated aim is to win the league and Champions league they aren't fit for purpose . Its still possible that Tek and Odobert could make it there but that window is closing. Basically they should be at Dortmund making mistakes .

Johnson scored 17 goals last season, and 2 in three games this season.

He was poor today, but which players weren't.

To be fair after reading your post i would one hundred percent trust the judgement of Lange over your own.

his numbers in England are awful, he's 28 next month, he's in a slower league in italy, and has benefited from having an extremely attacking manager

look at some of his goals, his dribbling is bumbly he won't be able to do that in the PL

Atalanta are "offering him around" and no one's jumping I promise you he'll flop. I'll be gutted if he signs .
For Leicester, his numbers were good when played on the left, he scored 5 in 11 games. He wasn't productive on the right though.

honestly no, and I was literally in the stadium 20 mins from my house when he scored a hat trick in the Europa league final, he's not particularly fast, his dribbling won't be as effective in the PL look at his technique it's based on playing in quite a slow league

we'll agree to disagree, no problem, but I absolutely do not want Lookman.
His dribbling stats when he was in England are better than his stats in Italy. Probably due to playing more central in Italy.

93rd percentile for Leicester and 83rd percentile successful dribbles for Fulham. For comparison, Savinho is in the 64th percentile.

The player we need is Harry Winks if he was actually good. Club trained, passing midfielder, can theoretically play at the base and on the half turn, orchestrate play, breathe calmness and intention into our possession. We need his passer profile.

Unfortunately he’s shit.

He rarely passed forward quickly like say Wharton.

Shit indeed

I'd being going for Wissa over someone like Lookman. Doesn't solve the left winger issue, but I have serious concerns over Solanke's health, and we know Richy is never far away from a knock. We could have done with someone yesterday who could hold the ball up.

Apparently you must thank Daniel regardless according to some on here

I will give it a go .

Thank you Daniel for getting us in a mess , then being at best 50% and in some cases 33% as effective at rectifying your monumental screw up as the lesser paid CEO’s of our rivals .

Not perfect, but I think that thanks him appropriately for what you were saying .
