Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So many getting disgruntled at no LW. If Savinho isn't an option then all we have as an alternative is Lookman.
Who has multiple stints of underwhelming performance in England.

Keep the powder dry and wait for someone of the quality we need. Check again for Savinho in January if we must.
Signing for the sake of it is how we end up with Solomon, Gil, Phillips, Veliz etc.
Richarlison will start playing there

There is nothing more pointless that football fans "rating" a transfer window out of 10 the moment it closes.

If the Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon window didn't teach us that nothing will.

Squad’s not perfect, but we have signed 4 players who all probably go straight into our best XI, that’s not a bad window by any stretch, and is probably than most of would’ve expected going into the summer.

Would’ve liked us to go hard for Savinho, but maybe we did and City simply told us to fuck off. If he’s still not getting a game come January, he’s gonna be absolutely choking to get out of there to try and get into Brazil’s World Cup squad, so you never know.

There’s no point signing inferior players just for the sake of getting a signing in, that’s how we’ve ended up being clogged full of shite that we’ve struggled to get rid of for the last 5 years.

7.5/10 window for me.

why is Simons in the middle for everyone's line-ups? it's as if none of you have ever watched him play

Eh? He's played number 10 loads of times, almost as much as from the left. Considering we have no other number 10 fit, and we have a number of options to play from the left, there's a high chance he will be playing in the middle.

Of course, Frank could decide to play him on the left, but then we will be lacking creativity through the middle, as Sarr in number 10 just doesn't cut it.

For the sake of our creativity and end product, it has to be Simons central, and one of Odobert / Tel / Richarlison or Johnson left.

I just think we paid 65m in total for both Tel and Odobert. They're both 20 so plenty of potential. They need to step up this season though. Just out of interest when is Kulusevski and Solanke back?

Can't remember the last time we did that... so have to be happy

I think you can rate it out of 10 in terms of ambition, intent and upgrading positions.

But yeah you can't really judge it until basically next summer and then review it.

Like, for example, last summer I said our window was utter shit, and this summer I can reassuringly say I was 100% spot on, it was terrible.

It will also be a big mistake is Spurs won't trust Tel and Odobert with playing time.
Plus, Spurs also have Johnson, Richarlson and Muani to who play as LWF.
We don't have time to bring Tel through and Johnson is useless unless he taps one in and still useless if he does nothing but tap one in and we still get beat, with him contributing to that loss because he does absolutely nothing else but tap one in, to help the team.

Why do people think we're in the position to be developing players this season???

We're in the CL.

We get injuries and have to rotate with circa 60 games ahead.

We need ready-made, ready-to-go in this window for positions that are underperforming.

Opta stats say his prominent position has been LW, where he plays 40% of the time. Sure, 60% of the time he’s not there but that’s the position they reckon he’s played to most for RBL.

I just think with Ange he was bullish enough to get us a trophy last season. Fair play to him for that. But bigger picture I dont think we would have got the signings this summer under him and we were at risk of a relegation battle if we kept Ange. Weve repaired the damage from last season imo. Theres still january as well to boost squad.

We have been linked with a winger for many weeks. It does not look likely and the fact we have only signed RKM on loan for a small fee….where is the money we put aside for the winger?
