Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

And another one slams shut.

I would give it a generous 6. A window that promised so much but as is the case with every single ENIC summer window, we are left short in areas and have the perpetual feeling of what if.

Pros:
- A very good signing in Kudus even if he wasn’t first choice.
- An excellent addition in Simons (again even though it must be pointed out it fell into our laps)
- RKM should prove to be a good squad option up front and should ease the burden on Richarlison and Solanke
- new contract for Romero.

Cons:
- missing out on many, if not all of our first choice targets (Mbuemo, MGW, Eze, Savinho, Hincapie)
- no new left sided defender which means another season of potentially having to use Ben Davies and playing VDV into the ground.
- cheaping out on getting a top class 6/DM which I fear may come back to bite us.
- failing to replace Son adequately.
- just again the overall sense of chasing opportunities and punts rather than any apparent strategy to just go out and get our top targets.
- the failure to move on deadwood. Bissouma, Solomon, Gil not being moved on is criminal, and also this was the summer we had to move on Richarlison and Bentancur IMO. Getting any fees for either of them will be next to impossible now.

Xavi Simons brought the window from a 4 to a 6 for me, and anyone who thinks that wasn’t a transfer given to us by the football gods is deluded beyond help.

There is still a lack of quality and depth in key areas of the pitch, and once the new manager bounce wears off and the lack of quality rears its ugly head again, I fear the optimism around now could quickly disappear.

But alas, we move on.

Some good signings, not going to argue with that.

But once again, LB and LCB, are leaving us short in this area. Davies is not up to it anymore. That leaves, Porro, Udogie, and Djed our RB and LB's. An injury to one of them, and we will have zero rotation, running players into the ground, with the demands of PL, CL, and the League Cup, to deal with and two of those players playing every single game, and getting run into the ground again. Not unless you risk playing the youth.

Leaving signings to the last minute again, is not good. It's not 20 years ago, you have to allow time for other clubs to get replacements, very few teams, are going to let their best players go, and not leave themselves any chance of replacing them, it's an insane way of operating in today's.

We need a LW too, the importance of which, was wonderfully highlighted on Saturday. Ok, Simons can play there, then who plays the 10? Massive mistake messing about with Eze for so long, especially as Woolwich had already shown interest, and he was a Woolwich fan. We should have had others lined and ready to pull the trigger as soon as it fell through. And where is the cover for Simons if he gets injured?

This is why it is important to get stuff done early, then you can leave yourself opportunistic buys that suite our needs towards the end of the window, without out the need of leaving yourself short in critical areas. Something we can't do if Levy really wants us to aim for the PL or CL. You have to act quickly and with purpose, and just get shit done.

It's been okay window, it was always going to take a couple of seasons to undo the mess the squad was in.

No, I am not going to rate this window, as I wont know how well the signings we have got will turn out for some time yet. Brilliant I hope.

I don't think we will win the PL or CL, we just don't have the squad depth in critical areas. But do have a good shot at a cup, and if we get our act together and don't put in shit storm of performances like we did on Saturday, then Europe, or even the CL is a real possibility, but we won't have an idea for a few months yet.

And we may be able to get by on the left, if need be with VdV as LB if need, and Richi on the left if need, and Simons in the middle... But it all relies and everyone staying fit and that just ain going to happen.

Didn’t do enough for me and “Average” window feels a generous appraisal.

Midfield is still a massive problem. Outgoings probably the most damming of things, even with MGW fiasco.

Got to get better at the selling as it’s hurting the buying.

Bare minimum window. Not enough to get us into the top 6, imo.

Better than we were last spring though.
I think our first XI stands up to Villa, Newcastle and Forest now so we should aim for top 6.

The issue will be the toll that CL takes on us and lack of defensive rotation options. It's basically Danso for RCB/LCB and only 3 proper full backs for 2 positions.

I think Frank simply bins off the domestic cups to manage the workload.

Just an opinion do think we should invest even more in academy. Some of the transfer fees now are extraordinary. Moore could be next big thing for us but need more coming through academy. Saves a lot of money transfer wise. We should pick the brains of ajax, Barcelona, bayern, psg, sporting and any other elite academies how they operate.

You just shot yourself in the foot. By saying it's the best window in years just goes to prove how correct the 'ENIC out' loons, as you call your fellow Spurs fan, have been. ENIC delivered nothing football-wise for years, until now, and you get to shout about it for once in what, 17 years?? Made yourself look like an idiot.

You should phone Daniel up and tell him this.
I bet he'd never thought of it.
