Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Seen that Illing-Junior is going on loan to WBA.

Yet to play for villa I think, and I'm sure he was one online spurs fans were hyping up massively as someone we should be buying last summer
He's only 21yo. Still got 40+ games for Juve to his name. Another 15ish for Bologna.

You're on here acting all superior cause you didn't want to sign him.

He's winning.

Before the window started I do think most would’ve signed up for
Simons
Kudus
RKM (loan)
Palhinha (loan)

By no means is it enough. But the bloated squad certainly held us back. Frank is gonna have tough decisions for the Champ league squad.

7.5/10 window for me, very much a first stage of Frank rebuilding the team rather than doing it all in one go, but I like all the incomings a lot. And honestly, that might be the better option as it gives him some time to assess the players we have, work with the recruitment team, and it’ll be easier to recruit hopefully when you aren’t coming off a 17th place finish.

For this year, it means that we’re going to need to rely heavily on Odobert, Tel, Gray, and Bergvall to mature and perform. Big developmental years for them would be huge for us. Also I think we’re still very unsettled in the Kane replacement space, would be great if one of Richarlison, Solanke, or Kolo Muani really staked a claim there. But unfortunately I don’t think we really have the goals in the team for this year.

Still think we’re probably looking at a £200m window next summer to address our gaps on the left wing, a long term #6 option (Wharton is the dream), and LCB/LB. Which isn’t quite ideal, but it’s a process.

given my expectations this is a fantastic window. wish we had upgraded davies with another left footed all around defender but other than that i feel like we filled the big holes with cdm, cam, tricky winger and striker. good versatility with new guys too so i'm not too worried about depth. really looking forward to seeing how they all fit in. coys!

It’s been a weird window. I think we have ultimately shown a lot of ambition, signing 4 players that should improve the first team (Xavi Simons, Kudus, Palhinha, and Muani), whilst expanding the depth / potential quality of the squad (Tel, Danso, and Takai). Overall it is above what I, and what I think most fans, realistically expected. But you cannot please everyone. Renewing Romero is like a new signing, and it was good to see Spence signing another long term deal as well.

The ‘how’ we went about our business took some of the shine off the window as there were mis-steps, frustrations and there did not seem to be a very well planned or coherent approach. At times it seemed haphazard, lurching from one disaster to another. The MGW debacle got fans hopes up (and showed massive intent with 24 hour of signing Kudus) but ultimately failed (although I do not think it was not our fault it broke down). Eze was a weird one - we well and truly got our pants pulled down by Woolwich and everyone could see it coming - very avoidable. However, I genuinely feel Xavi Simons is a better player and a better fit for us, so was ultimately worth it. Especially if it took that embarrassment to get Levy riled up and more committed in pursuit of targets. Muani is a good signing, despite being an opportunistic one after Solanke’s injury. I think people forget he was ‘a goal every other game’ striker at Frankfurt and Juventus, and if he can recapture anything like the form that saw PSG spend 95M Euros on him in 2023 we have got ourselves a bargain! I think we’d all have preferred Solanke to stay fit and sign Savinho instead, but it was good disaster recovery if nothing else. I feel some fans, as excited as they are about Xavi, Kudus and Muani, are gutted to have missed out on MGW and Savinho, negating the euphoria somewhat.

In terms of offloading players I think we did well… It was definitely the right time to let Son go. Son of 24/25 was nowhere near the Son of a few years ago, and we got a decent fee for a 33 year old with 1-year left (£20M). Højbjerg also fetched a decent fee (£16.8M), and we finally seem to have rid ourselves of Gil (£8.67M). We even brought in a fee (£3.5M) from Marcus Edwards permanent move to Burnley from Sporting Lisbon.

Overall, it would be a 9/10 if Maddison and Solanke did not get injured during pre-season. I'll give it an 8/10, and an extra left sided defender will be missed!

After last season’s nightmare and Romero and VDV’s injury record, I can’t believe we’ve added no more cover anywhere in the defence. Ben Davies will be playing CL at some point this season and it’s just not good enough.

You may have missed us make Danso permanent, sign Takai, and anticipate Dragusion to be fit again in a few weeks. So we have 6 CBs (inc. Davies). Also expect VdV and Romero to be better managed this season in terms of workload and intensity.

For £2?

Liverpool holds all the leverage, if thats truly where he wants to play. They're unlikely to be desperate to have him for the last 3 months of this season, and if he's unwilling to sign a contract anywhere else then Palace can't create a market. They'll either accept what Liverpool offer or they'll lose him in June for free.

Depends if they wanna go the whole season with 2 quality CB's with no cover, doubt it.

If we can stay relatively injury free in the areas where we are a bit light then it's a good 7/10 window, however similar injuries to last yr for Romero and/or VDV and the cracks will start to show. A left winger would have been nice, but RKM can also play there, but we may regret not getting another creative CAM , esp with madders out.
On the plus side we probably have a more mature astute tactically aware manager than this time last yr, but time will tell.
