I'm sure we're trying hard to sign him

Dexter Oliver (16) is set to leave Spurs. Since both Man City & United are after him I wonder if that's the reason (maybe someone knows more about this story).

Oliver's favourite position is as a no 10, which unfortunately for him is also the favoured position of Williams-Barnett, probably the best player in the academy (even though as an u16 he's playing up a year) ....... just to put a number up there, Williams-Barnett scored 31 goals this season, averaging a goal every game, best goalscoring record in the academy for over a decade. And assists on top..... where I run out of fingers trying to count.

So one possible explanation is Oliver wants to play as a no. 10 regularly and thinks only way to do that is change club, despite Oliver having been given plenty of playing time in Spurs u18's this season given that he too is playing up a year.

Tbh if Romero goes would like a Dutch player to play alongside vdv next season. Toby and Jan was a great partnership. Communication is key at the back. We need a top spine in our team next season right through the middle from defence through to attack.

Toby and Jan had played together at Ajax for a decade as youngsters - hence they knew each other very well before Spurs.

They probably had no need to communicate, other than by telepathy as they knew each others game so well.

Probably impossible to replicate that amount of playing time together

He's not like Ben Arfa. Ben Arfa was all about the dribble, end product secondary. Cherki can dribble a bit but that's not really what he's all about, it's his tight space vision and passing and creativity that is more prevalent.

I get he's flawed without the ball, and may be a bit of a dick, but for 25m, when you think what we've spent on some absolute fucking munts - even Kulusevski cost us nearly double what Cherki would cost - and Cherki at worst would give us equal versatility as Kulusevski (he can play anywhere across the front RF/LF/10) and much better final third reliability.

All we ever seem to buy is flawed footballers, we might as well have a value one who at least has some fucking reliable ability.
We have enough lazy dickheads in that squad, why the heck take that chance?! Just cause the lad can dribble and pass it about?! I don't care he'd cost only 25 mil, let's use that money for someone with balls and brains instead.

The thing is, if he was a good dribbler, a smart final third producer and worked his nuts off without the ball, we aren't getting near him.

Let's sell Kulsevski, Richarlison, Johnson, get rid of Werner and buy a couple of workers and Charki to have as a squad option for for games where we need wit and craft with the work.

It's not like Kulusevski or Johnson are good without the ball is it. Sell those two and buy Cherki and we are still about 50m up net to spend on someone else.

Endulge me, for a £50m net spend, js the below achievable? And does it make our squad stronger?

Mbuemo - £70m

Cunha - £60m

Cardoso - £20m

Branthwaite - £20m plus Richie

Paulinha - £20m

Cherki - £10m plus Bissouma

£220m spent

Forster - 0

Davies - 0

Romero - £80m

Johnson - £45m

Bentancur - £30m

Solomon- £15m

Bissouma - swap

Richie - swap

£170m in

We’d be left with a fluid attack with a number of players able to play multiple positions (including lefties), a strong tackling defensive midfield, and appropriate cover for VdV.

If Romero goes, get Min Jae from Bayern. Held wants out and he’s the closest we will get to the passing and carrying skills, plus a dominant beast.

Stock is low after a rough season on the other end of traveling more KMs, and playing more minutes than anyone in the world. He will be right back after this summer off.

Well why the fuck would we sign a right back to replace Romero??? Another square peg for a round hole, great!

Eric Dier was often preferred over him (Min Jea). He was class for Napoli but at Bayern his positioning was exposed at times. Part of the reason for his costly mistakes may be because him playing thru an injury to his achilles tendon
