Your love for Bentancur surpasses my love for a woman with a fat ass.
I really rate him. Maybe I overrate him but game of opinion.

Thought he was our best player under Conte before his bad injury. Never thought we saw the best of him under Ange because he was always left exposed playing as a lone 6. I think if he's used correctly again and has an able parter (PEH actually was perfect for him because he did most of the off the ball work), then I think he is still a top midfielder. We'll find out how good he is next year. Frank won't leave him as exposed in the 6 so he'll get a fair chance. I assume will will sign an actual 6/CDM too. Bentancur will struggle to hold off Bergval/Kulusevski/Sarr in that 8 role but he will get plenty of chances and I think we will see the best of him again soon.

Top 3 in Spain regularly.
Have a manager thats never say die and is a fellow 🇦🇷
Unbelievably passionate fan base
Atleti actually try to compete and don't fuck around
A few of his countrymen in the squad
Being a resident of Spain myself, the culture and climate are big draws
Doesn't have to speak English
Atleti are seen as a larger more prestigious club than Spurs

My thoughts anyway. Hes been agitating for a while. Hes a mega mega player and we'll be worse off without him generally as we will absolutely not replace him with similar or better quality. It is the way of the Tottenham
In personal aspects, I get it. But in terms of titles, I don't believe he's going to get more in Atleti.

Seems inevitable that we'll have an "actually Wissa is better than Mbeumo" narrative when Mbeumo spurns us for United.
I don't reckon he's going United, they've already pivoted to Gyokeres, I don't think they've got the stomach to pay him the 200k/week he wants. I think we've got a good chance if Frank sells it to Levy as a must-have marquee signing, we have CL football and if we really want to we can pay him £150-180k with bonuses that take it to that £200k figure. United have found £100m room in FFP but they've already spent half that on Cunha and need to choose what position they strengthen in wisely until they can offload some of their squad players. I think them going on any kind of spree hinges heavily on getting fees for Antony, Rashford, Sancho and Garnacho, and that is a big ask considering what United will want to offset the Antony/Sancho fees and Sancho/Rashford's wages are for sure a stumbling block for any club, never mind those outside of Europe's elite (who probably don't want either of them).

Spurs won't be in a rush to sign Mbeumo so he'll be a United player if they are willing to pay the 60m and offer him 200k a week. The Gyokores talk is interesting though, as I don't see how United can sign both and keep Bruno, without selling first. Makes me wonder if United are having second thoughts on Mbeumo. They've probably realised Gyokores will be around the same price and wages so he might be their priority before they sell players.

If Mbeumo is left available then that would put us in pole position but I think Eze is the player we want the most and no chance we sign both. Frank will need to make a strong case to convince our club to move for Mbeumo instead of Eze. Both probably be a similar fee and wages so it'll come down to which one the club wants more.

I know I know, lets act like a big club and sign both. I wish we did but we all know it'll be one or the other if we are lucky. Much more likely to end up with neither of them then end up with both of them!

Yeah, I could agree. But at least they will be fighting for titles rather than having absolutely no ambition for it (The Chairman of the two clubs are vastly different in ethos). Europa League aside. I can see why he would move, but i get your point.
I get your point, but how much will Atleti be competing for titles other than the Copa del Rey?

In terms of our chairman, I'm also frustrated that Levy never splashes the cash, but I'm also very happy that we're a sustainable and smart-thinking club. It's a two-edged sword; one that often leads to disappointment because people see other clubs throwing money around like it was confetti.

IDK where your confidence comes from re Eze, media have talked that deal up for 2 years now to no avail. I think if the club is going to make a statement signing for £50m+ they will at least look to get sign-off from the manager. Not to say Frank doesn't want Eze but if the club presented it as either-or you would think he would err on the side of Mbeumo if wages and fee are similar for both.
The Mbeumo and Cunha to United links surfaced at the same time and Cunha is now a Utd player whereas there has been nothing on the Mbeumo to Utd deal for days, I think it's either off or they will have another go later in the window if/when they can shift some deadwood. If he's our number 1 target and we move early I think we can get him while they dither about trying to get Barcelona to give them £50m for Rashford while they try to get him to sign a contract that defers his wages til 2045.

Honestly, that's one of the reasons I started supporting spurs all the way back in 2008. I hated the money in football from rich owners just pumping clubs with cash for wins (Chelsea, City at the time).

But now, I unfortunately see our owners as more akin to a parasite. I believe we underinvest in football from our revenues, and overinvest in low risk, moderate/high ROI infrastructure/property dealings. Cash that football is generating, that should be invested into the football, is not. Meanwhile other teams are leapfrogging us (in terms of football) by reinvesting the PL tv money (ala Villa, et al).

So, I started out with your belief as well, but I've certainly lost it since the turn of I'd say the end of the Poch reign.

The wages to revenue charts are too much of a smoking gun to see otherwise.

There are zero managers in the league maybe apart from Slott or Pep who would not want Eze in their squad.

Wouldn't be surprised if our business is so bad that there is little change. Can see Romero forcing a move and going for around 50m, then wouldn't be surprised if Brentford got the full 50m for Collins.

I'd never trust us to do shrewd business anyway. We spent more on Solanke and Johnsen than we got for Kane!

Why don’t you go make a list of all the players Spurs bought that were more expensive than Kane and come back when you’re done.

And yet we seem to be the only team consistently linked with him every window, I've never even heard rumblings of him going anywhere else. Not saying he's not a great player but he's 27 this summer and been a known quantity for years at Palace, I always thought it was Olise of the two that looked the better player and lo and behold he has just had a brilliant season for Bayern.

Problem with Eze last Summer was we could not activate his release clause. I also think we prioritised Solanke as our big signing and had a preference for Neto as a left winger who we missed out on because Chelsea hijacked and were willing to overpay on every metric.

I think this Summer Eze was always our prime target but good chance Frank might push for Mbeumo instead and then the club might rethink which one they want. I think there is a good chance we get one or the other. I think both would be excellent signings.

I'm not sold on Semenyo at all so really hope we get one of Eze/Mbeumo instead! I'll cry if we end up signing Dibling instead of them all. Would be typical!

What is the point of this exercise? Any combination of 2 of Solanke, Johnson, Richarlison covers the 100m we paid on Kane.

My point is selling players for big money is not this great cash cow everyone says it is. Guehi will cost more than Romero (even though he is not as good. English tax), and Brantwaithe and Collins will nearly cost just as much even though they are not in the same league. That is my point.

This idea of selling Romero being great is just wrong. It would be much better if we kept our best players and built around them.
