Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I’ve never seen this club sign 2 starting 11 quality players in one position during a single transfer window…

You don't half talk some bollocks in this thread.....

Summer 2023: Maddison/VDV/Vicario.... Johnson(*)
Winter 2021: Kulu/Bentancur
etc. etc. etc.

(*cue debate on the last name.)

...And that's being conservative about other players not listed; like Rich/Odobert, Bale/PEH and Peresic/Biss + Gray & Berg proving good enough to start games in the EPL. Players like Ndombele & LoCelso weren't signed for the bench either.

Anyway.........

Problem for me is, Bissouma out and Cardoso in isn’t really taking us up a level.

If Cardoso isn't better than Biss; it's a pointless signing.... And if he is signed; he sure is expected to be.

I don’t know if Gomes for Bissouma takes us up a level either. I haven’t watched him enough to know if hes consistent enough.

We have Gray and Bergvall who will be legit 6/8’s next season. It’s creativity that we need to replace Bentancur with imo.

We need another CM who can create.

I thought Gomez was exactly that kind of guy; to pick a pass, make transitions and progress the ball........? ....He's certainly not a DM.

Ultimately though; whatever happens the MF need to be completely re-balanced as under Ange it gets over-run most weekends as soon as the oppo decide to get on the front foot.

The irony of following this post with a quote from me that you didn't read nor understand properly but replied with bollox anyway..

Just to repeat what I wrote that you quoted:

Maddison and Vicario play the same position do they?
VDV and Johnson play the same position?

Deary me. You went and got all defensive and steamed up when you never even read it properly. Double check the next time you get sand in your sensitive.

Cardoso can be better than Biss but we still need to go up a level and our CM is 2 players short of going up a level IMO at least.
Gomes is 100% a ball winning CM. He's not a creative CM in any sense. He would be a lot like Sarr for us.

IMO we need a consistent, ready now #6 and a #8 who can give us the same football IQ and technical ability as Maddison. Ideally one who can also win the ball and cover ground like a B2B MF. Bentancur used to be close to that type of player but has never looked the same since that Cash challenge.

I think both. We need to move both on but I’ve never seen this club sign 2 starting 11 quality players in one position during a single transfer window…

Whatever happened to Ruben neves who was at wolves. He was always quality.

Gomes is much better on the ball on the Sarr. He takes it in front of the back four and pivots quickly, similar to Wharton. Not creative but can take it under pressure and pass it forward... finds angles

Different to our other CM’s

(Touche..... Hasty & dyslexic is all.)

..............But; who (even petro cunts) does that anyway? ...2 starters for one position in one window? ....In a scenario where it actually made sense? (That's Chelsea's billion $ burn-up crossed off the list)

Besides; if Biss & Benta both leave we need to buy a #6 & an #8.... Or arguably a 6 & a 10 (subject to Kulu's positional future?).... Or even only a #6.

i.e. not TWO for ONE position.

6: Gray / ???
8: Sarr / Berg / ???
10: Madz / Kulu (or ???)

....Also consider Devine & Donley.

+ If we don't have Europe next season adding 2 more to that creates a bloated mess.

Cardoso can be better than Biss but we still need to go up a level and our CM is 2 players short of going up a level IMO at least.

Who is (rhetorical question)...... ?

.......Top DMs that can ball are the golden ticket in current day football given the style of play that is vogue.

Gomes is 100% a ball winning CM. He's not a creative CM in any sense. He would be a lot like Sarr for us.

So a #8; not a #6 either... Pretty sure his rep speaks of a player that links play (even if one doesn't consider him a creative player per say)......

IMO we need a consistent, ready now #6 and a #8 who can give us the same football IQ and technical ability as Maddison. Ideally one who can also win the ball and cover ground like a B2B MF.

So you agree then..... Not two in the SAME position afterall.:p

Bentancur used to be close to that type of player but has never looked the same since that Cash challenge.

Further compounded by the fact Ange plays him as a #6.

Pre-injury Bentancur at #8 is exactly what we need...... Although Berg appears to be (is he that guy yet is another debate).

2 CMs. One more of a 6, the other more of an 8.

I’ll take that post as an apology though. No stress mate, happens to all of us here and there.
