Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't understand the links and discussion of Man City etc in here. We would be better focused on Brentford and Brighton, who ENIC have chosen to model us on and compete with after the Super League fell through.

Exclusive: Tottenham opening Eberechi Eze preliminary talks with early offer

Tottenham are ready to launch a bid for Crystal Palace star man Eberechi Eze this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Palace star, 26, has hit a purple patch of form in recent weeks – scoring five goals in his last four appearances across all competitions.

I don’t think the summer is going to be anywhere near as bad as people are making out. Every single club has staggered transfer debt.

I imagine we’ll do what has been done for the past few seasons. In and around £150m net.

The most important change will be the manager. The group of players we have shouldn’t be 17th in the league. The 5th most valuable squad in the Prem should not be 17th. Forest, by comparison are valued £350m lower and are 3 points off 4th.

Get a competent manager in who will actually bring a coaching team with him this time. Get rid of a few dogshit players, bring in some reinforcements and approach next season with realistic expectation. Leaguewise we’ve hit near rock bottom this season, only way is up.

Positivity chaps.
Two ways of looking at it for me.

Bad on the whole, absolutely possible.

Potentially bad if you're considering potential no CL vs CL, probably not. I don't think our targets, or drawing power for those targets, will be affected much by whether we have CL or not. The club hasn't really used the pull of CL football to push the boat out and sign players we couldn't have signed without it previously, so I don't see why this summer would be any different.

The staggered debt can be a fluctuating problem, yes every club has it, but the bigger the fees, the bigger the annual payment, and a few summers of big fees overlapping could mean that we have a particularly large burden on the books for a year or two. Our main problem is that not many have come in and appreciated in value hugely, and we're pretty bad at selling to offset the payments we're shelling out.

But on the main point you're absolutely correct, Manager is critical. A decent manager could come in and be much more competitive even with zero ins/outs this window.

Ben Arfa was a world class talent who wasted his talent due to his attitude. Just like Stéphane Dalmat...and Taarabt...and Ndombele...
I don't know Cherki personally so I can't say what's "wrong" with his attitude but if he's as bad as some Lyon fans claim he may not be the best of atmosphere creator. Bad attitude doesn't just affect just the player itself but the whole squad.
So many fans are upset with Johnson - game after game - for his lack of defensive work...so don't expect Cherki to be doing more back-tracking.
Anyway, Spurs spend a lots of their scouting system, if it really is worthy the risk they really should know.
I think it's more his utter ineptitude at everything apart from tapping it in at the back post that grates tbh...

Probably bollocks but seems like the level of clubs we will now be fighting out for players.

In my lifetime this feels like the weakest we have ever been, during Sugar days we could sign Klinsmann or Ginola, early ENIC we could still get Defoe or Carrick level. Right now it’s seems Tel is basically our level, a young kid with talent that might be good or might be crap. Still that guy is at least scouted by Brighton so might be half ok.

How many players from 1995 or 2005 get into our current team?
