Was having a think earlier about Eze and I’m not sure where he plays in a Thomas Frank team other than number 10.

Can’t see him wide left in a front 3, cause Frank seems to like proper pace and more inside forward type players, which isn’t Eze’s game.

And I don’t see Frank playing 2 number 10’s in a midfield 3 like Ange done with Maddison and Kulusevski. His system is far too structured and pragmatic for that most of the time (not saying that’s a bad thing).

So do we really need 3 top players who’ll all want to play every week in Maddison, Kulu and Eze vying for one position? Especially when we’ve got other gaping holes in the squad that need filled.

If one of them was to leave then it’s a different story. FWIW, I’d happily sell Kulu to get Eze in, I wonder if Kulu will be a great fit in a Frank team, I’ve never been totally sold on him as a number 10, and he definitely ain’t quick enough to play right of a front 3 under Frank.

I just don’t see how you keep the 3 of them happy in a more structured system that we’re expecting from Frank. They’d be an amazing 3 to rotate in the two 10’s under Ange, but I think one has to go before you sign him for Frank.
But with no Kulusevski for at least the first couple of months of the season, then getting back to full speed another quality versatile option like Eze is surely needed. Can’t count on Madders alone

With both Wharton and Carlos Baleba now being too expensive for Spurs (both were liked to Spurs before their transfers to the EPL – costing £18m (rising to £22m) and €27 million respectively back then)) this is a list of DM I would consider:

João Palhinha (Bayern)
Samuele Ricci (Torino)
Lucien Agoumé (Sevilla)
Nicolò Rovell (Lazio)
Enzo Barrenechea (Valencia)
Hugo Larsson (Frankfurt)
Rocco Reitz (Gladbach)
Angelo Stiller (Stuttgart)
Hayden Hackney (Boro)

Soungoutou Magassa (Monaco)
Ayyoub Bouaddi (Lille)
Caleb Yirenkyi (Nordsjælland)
Victor Froholdt (FC København)

I forgot about Kulu being injured actually. But still, how do you keep them all happy when everyone’s fit? None of them will be content with picking splinters out their arse every week. And I don’t see Eze or Kulu being wide options for Frank.

Would be a nice luxury to have all 3, but we ain’t Chelsea or City where we can have multiple £50m+ players for one position, not with Levy at the helm anyway.

Unless we sell big, we need to prioritise our spending and we need a top wide option and a quality DM more than we need a third number 10.

Why? The most lazy fallacy is that because Brentford had a different kind of wide player, that’s exactly what he’ll want here. If he tries to construct his team here exactly like Brentford’s then him and us will be in big trouble before we start,

Man City since January

Khushanov 33m
Reis 29m
Mamoush 62m
Gonzalez 50m
Ait Nouri 31m
Cherki 30m
Reijnders 47m

Clearly no charges coming their way when you can spend nearly 300m in six months.

If only Levy had an ounce of that intent.

Is this right?
