These are exactly the sort of players we should be replacing our shirt fillers with.

Yes, Yildiz and Diomande are young, but they’re not the same thing as buying some cheap young punts from Sweden or Burnley or Leeds. They’re already seen as generational talents, playing regularly and excelling in top leagues. If we can get them now, we need to try, cause it’s the only chance we’ll get at them.

As we’ve seen with Eze & Semenyo, if we wait till they already in that top bracket, we ain’t getting them anymore. Top players don’t want to come here once they’re top players. We need to get them when they’re on the cusp of greatness. That’s the way back to competing for us.

I would agree a deal with Palace and then at the last minute sell Johnson to Bournemouth.

If you really want to exact revenge on Palace , the best thing to do would be to just sell him to them

Can you do a medical during AFCON ?

Surely it would be pointless doing it before Cote d’Voire get knocked out?

There are places where medicals can be done all over the world - doesn't need to be done in UK.

Afcon final is on 18 January so not long to wait - an informal medical could be done beforehand which would reveal anything which might put a transfer in doubt other than a later injury, so the formal medical might need to wait until after 18 January

Yildiz has more on his CV but is Diomande any different from signing Tel?

Tel had more on his CV when we signed him.

Slightest hint of change perhaps . IMHO Levy does not take a 15 million haircut, especially this early in the window .
Way too early to feel confident things might be different, but let’s hope it’s a sign of a major strategy change on transfers .
Came in here to say this. This is the first time the "we promise things will be different this window, trust us!" might actually be true. No way Levy is taking any loss on a player he bought two windows ago. Big clubs know when to cut bait on average players, rather than refusing to sell and letting them leave on a free because they couldn't stand losing money.
I hope Frank isn’t with us for too long, regardless of any short-term changes.

I want a football team that is relatively pleasing on the eye and who take the game to the opponent as a result of precision passing.

If we become a clogging, punt it forward, fight and hope for it team, then this is one poster who will watch from afar.
Good to know wins mean less and you're only a fan if the squad plays champagne football. You could always go be a Barca or Bayern fan while you wait for Spurs to play the only football you find acceptable.

By the way, Johnson has fallen out of favour with Frank not because he lacks flair. It's because he lacks physicality.

Frank is going to double down on his version of Bordalasball where games are huge wrestling contests, and only bulky wingers like Kudus could survive in them. Odobert could also be out of the door soon for the same reason.

I'm reasonably confident that not only a potential replacement for Johnson, but also the other signings of ours this January will reflect this.
I think Frank also wants grafters and BJ is too lazy for that.

Very funny. I don't think I am saying that.

Do you want to see hump it and lump it football as long as it brings us victories or something a bit more fluid?

If the former is enough for you then fine. I don't think the majority of Spurs fans would like to see that kind of approach but just think of the increased revenue Bayern and Barcelona will get.

didn’t see the fuss with that Akliouche when we played them. Some were raving about him. Looked a bit meh to me. Looks like he rates himself too with that no look pass that he played straight out of play. Not really a wide player either. Can he play as an 8? Diamonde would be the much better buy imo

I did the maths and tbh this is more like a break even on book value anyway. Between 35-37m is exactly even for what the transfer has cost us over 2 years so far.
