Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

ENIC last summer: that's it, no more small time shit, we wanna win the PL & CL, big money gonna be spent.

ENIC in Jan, with the team facing relegation: Yeah Gallagher and a 19yo unknown from Brazil will do. Thanks Vinnie for the 10mil net spend.

I asked ChatGPT if spurs were going to sign anyone else this window and it surprisingly threw up a name I’d not heard mentioned before!
Leon Goretzka.

Not heard much about him to be honest but his showreel is ok

It's like the club actively tries to promote it's banter status.
There's gonna be the inevitable Paddy Power take on this in the next few days.
I can’t help wondering if Thomas went rogue on this one or if they workshopped it as an idea?

Did they really get together and think that being transparent about a failed bid for a player who we are about to play against is going to get a positive reaction from the fans?

Could be bollocks, but Romano is a pretty reliable source.

Question I have is where the fuck is Lange?

BBC:
Inter Milan are in talks with Liverpool over a loan switch for midfielder Curtis Jones, 25, with an option to buy the England midfielder. (Fabrizio Romano)

Argentine centre-half Lautaro Rivero, of River Plate, is being monitored by Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Strasbourg. The 22-year-old reportedly has an £86m release clause. (El Crack Deportivo - in Spanish)

Strasbourg have more chance than us.
At least he (Lautaro Rivero) is left-footed

As the window starts to close we appear to be done. We will then hear about how difficult it is to do business in January and that we tried very very hard to improve the squad.

Make your mind up

I get a lot of people look at the injuries and automatically feel like we should be buying a few more players in January. Those who know me on here know I love bashing the leadership of this club at every opportunity but you have to look at this objectively. We aren't winning the Champions League, we aren't going to qualify for Europe next season and I am 96.7% certain we won't be relegated. When all the injured players are back we will have about 33 first team players not including RKM and Palhinha who will return to their parent clubs. Several will go out on loan and hopefully we will sell some of the duds. After all that, we will still have around 25 before any additions. That is a lot for a season without European football even when you factor in more injuries and suspensions.

I've written many times saying even fans don't know what they want

As it stands, given the circumstances, this is the worst and most deficient transfer window (for us) that I can recall.

Beyond shameful.
Think the winter one with Conte on his first season was worse, till we got Kulusevski and Bentancur in last 2 days?

So lets see if they do something this time too

That was pursuit of progress. Neglectful but not existential although that's a bit excessive on my part.

I think this is at the very least as bad.

I always think back to those though (and even further back, the Nelson and Saha one) as times we decided not to capture the moment, which led to inevitable decline. Which ends up where we are now.

But anyway yeah, this one's another crap window and since we could still end up in a relegation battle, I know what you mean.

I'm being a pedant here but surely the windows we signed nobody were worse?
We sold Brennan right at the start of the window and then Kudus got injured the game after and we are flirting with the relegation zone after losing to West Ham and failing to beat Burnley , have just qualified for the last 16 of the CL and we still haven’t felt the need to strengthen , I would say this window has left us weaker and our position is worse so this one wins it for me!

I’m in a weird place.

I don’t want us to sign anyone else because I know it would be a panic buy, with no long term thought process behind it, and doomed to flop.

Yet we NEED signings desperately.

Rock and a hard place!

Convincing case I can't lie 😂
