Tottenham contemplate £40 million move for Jan Paul Van Hecke

December 5, 2025 2:08 am

Tottenham could plot a £40 million move for Jan Paul van Hecke in future windows as Brighton are unlikely to entertain offers in January.

According to Team Talk, Jan Paul van Hecke is a reported target for Tottenham ahead of future windows. Spurs are eager to bring in a quality defender to their squad, with the Dutchman being targeted in a £40 million move, either in January or next summer, as Brighton are unlikely to sanction a move next month.

The January window does bring about opportunities to a few clubs but tensions for others, esp
Every time I watch Van Hecke play, he makes 1 or 2 incredible plays and then a dreadful error

if enic wanna make a statement, do what you have to do to get rodrygo. even if they fail, at least go in to get the player, makes a statement of intent and could lift things. have to spend big in this window.

Wouldn’t it be great if ; with all our money and scouts and contacts IF for once we paid the going rate ( with appropriate remuneration) for a player ( young or old ) who may actually improve us . And do so quickly.

I referred in another thread about us signing Colin Lee ( from FOURTH division Torquay ) and three days later he scored 4 goals for us on his debut.

I know lightning won’t strike twice, but it can’t be that difficult for the bods ( who are paid a lot our of money to do so ) to buy someone, anyone who might make us , you know ;better. Quite quickly.

How many “ prospects “ do we need out on loan ?
Those 4 goals was in the then 2nd division and after that game (vs Bristol City) he scored 14 goals over the next 3 seasons (6 goals per season), so I can't really say he was a big hit...

Made an immediate impact though ; helped get us promoted and never let us down and scored and set up important goals for us .

Why shouldn’t we hope to get that sort of player ( from nowhere) for I’m reckoning 15 million in today’s market.

Shouldn’t we be paying people to unearth players like him again.

That was the point I was trying to make .
