I would go for Rico Henry as cheap but reliable HG LB backup option.

Then if Udogie doesnt get his shit together (both in terms of fitness and performance) till summer window - we get rid of him and buy proper starting LB with Henry as backup for next season

Our full backs are a big weakness. Udogie cannot stay fit, is inconsistent when he plays, he hasn't progressed at all. Porro cannot defend and the opposition know this and target his side

Look how poor defensively Liverpool have been without Trent and Robertson and how good we were under Poch when Walker and Rose were flying. The full back positions matter a lot.

Palace haven't missed a beat despite losing first Olise and then Eze, but if/when they lose Wharton it will be a big blow. That's how good he is.

We're not getting him, but a deep playmaker of that type to link up with Romero-Porro-VDV at the back and Simons up front is the most urgent need. You as a club have some serious problems if you're actually getting excited over the slim possibility of a 19 year old Archie Gray filling that role.

Games are won and lost in midfield .

A great midfield provides the team with consistency. Croatia were a great example because they never had a top forward or defender (before Gvardiol’s emergence) but that midfield carried them deep in tournament after tournament.

We are actually quite fortunate in the sense that we have 3 defenders that can spot a pass in Romero, Porro and VDV.

Despite all the complaints about our attackers, we also have the trio of Kudus-RKM-Simons up front that could be quite good together in the not-too-distant future.

And then we have timid/clumsy midfielders who can barely link these two groups. What a waste.

Can't help but wonder what could've been, considering that we're T-3rd in goals scored despite everything.

We’ve got the Netherlands first choice left back and don’t blame him in his best position
Data from clubs and performance analysts (such as StatsBomb, Opta and FIFA GPS tracking) show that:

  • Central midfielders cover the most ground, averaging 11–13 km per match.
  • Full-backs often reach 10–12 km, combining attacking overlaps with defensive sprints.
  • Wingers and forwards tend to cover 9–11 km, depending on how much pressing their team does.
  • Centre-backs usually run the least, between 8–10 km, though they make more short, sharp movements than long runs.

So, you plan to put 2km more running into his legs and significantly more long runs/sprints. Sigh.
