Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We'll all get excited about the £70m forward who is going to revolutionise our season, only to find on the last day we are signing some obscure guy from Bolton who is a great prospect !
You must be talking about Mason Burstow, 22 years old with 7 goals and 3 assists in 17 maches.

Thank you for sharing your inside information!!! Would you like a donation to keep bringing it here?

Edit (Winter 25/26)

Adding a couple of defenders. Castillo Lukeba (22yo RBL) left footed LCB who can cover LB. V. Quick, passing not outstanding but very comfortable bringing the ball out with pace - perfect cover for VDV. Bit raw but potential. Schlotterbeck (Dortmund) left ft, LCB. Also forgot to add Baleba over from the summer edit.

Data from clubs and performance analysts (such as StatsBomb, Opta and FIFA GPS tracking) show that:

  • Central midfielders cover the most ground, averaging 11–13 km per match.
  • Full-backs often reach 10–12 km, combining attacking overlaps with defensive sprints.
  • Wingers and forwards tend to cover 9–11 km, depending on how much pressing their team does.
  • Centre-backs usually run the least, between 8–10 km, though they make more short, sharp movements than long runs.

So, you plan to put 2km more running into his legs and significantly more long runs/sprints. Sigh.
An extra 2km is nothing - I actually think the centre back sprint / last min dashes are more toiling….. going from 0 to full pelt in a split second and often need to hook a leg to tackle. Even says above short and sharp.

You can play the game at your pace from LB, a lot more straight line running / jogging where you build pace which is less demanding than the short / sharp to hamstrings. I don’t think he has to play 70 games there but I would absolutely cycle him in for a fair few games at LB

I would go for Rico Henry as cheap but reliable HG LB backup option.

Then if Udogie doesnt get his shit together (both in terms of fitness and performance) till summer window - we get rid of him and buy proper starting LB with Henry as backup for next season
Udogie's fitness certainly is a concern....but Henry's fitness record is a much bigger concern...

Tottenham plotting move for Anderlecht winger Nilson Angulo

According to TEAMtalk, Anderlecht’s Nilson Angulo is on the radar of several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, ahead of the January window.

The 22-year-old has been one of the best players on show in the Jupiler Pro League this season, and has four goals and eight assists to his name across all competitions.

This has attracted the attention of several big clubs, with Spurs being one of the clubs to have sent scouts to Brussels multiple times to run the rule over Angulo.

How do they know that Brighton have reduced his price 🤔

Brighton slash asking price for Tottenham target Carlos Baleba

A few days ago, CaughtOffside claimed Tottenham may pounce on Brighton’s Carlos Baleba in January, who is no longer a priority for Man United as he was in the summer.

Subsequently, it emerged that Spurs would have to pay £100m for the Brighton man, which could be a sticking point for the North London club.

However, a new report in TEAMtalk has now alleged that the Seagulls have slashed their asking price for Baleba ahead of the January window.

The outlet claims that Brighton are now willing to sell the midfielder for £75m and that they have already identified Aston Villa’s Lamare Bogarde as a potential replacement for the Cameroon international.

Should Spurs break their transfer record on Baleba?

While the £75m asking price is a significant drop from the previously quoted £100m, it would still comfortably shatter Tottenham’s transfer record fee of £65m they paid to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth 18 months ago.

Baleba’s form has fallen down a cliff since his failed move to Old Trafford in the summer, which may be why Brighton have dropped their price.

Spurs now have to decide on whether Baleba’s struggles this season are due to his head not being in the right place after the failed transfer, or if it is a symptom of a more serious flaw in his game.

So we should buy Lamare Bogarde.

When has breaking our transfer record actually worked out for us? :frankshock2:

We should be looking to Keane Lewis-Potter if we want someone from Brentford imo. Did quite well last season when Frank moved him down to play left back because of Henry's injuries.

But my preferred choice is Caio Henrique from Monaco for a more experienced option to Udogie.

2021:

Mentioned him a few times from his Lille days and at Monaco. Strong lad, good engine, not a genius, not spunkbread, at 4.5mEu up front, I don't think Milan can go too wrong as a back up option for Hernandez.

Might be worth keeping an eye on Caio Henrique, the 23yo Brazilian who took his place at Monaco. I didn't pay loads of attention to him but quite liked the bits and bobs I noticed, of the smaller nippier FB species, technically good, decent engine, looks tenacious, looks reasonably composed in forward areas.

2023:
FB’s
Frimpong (Leverkusen) RB
Henrique (Monaco) LB
Truffert (Rennes) LB
T Hernandez LB/LWB

6’s
Kone (BMG) 6
Caicedo 6

Truffert (Rennes)
Caio Henrique (Monaco)

?

Think we’ve missed the boat, he’s 28 now.

Méthalie at Toulouse might be worth keeping tabs on.

The words “ plotting “ “ a move for”
“ inset name of a player no-ones ever heard of “ and “ Spurs / Tottenham “ appearing in the same sentence.

Never seems to end well ; for one reason or another.

Chelsea step up plans to beat Man Utd to Drogba-esque striker as talks held for second African talent

05 Dec 2025 11:17 AM

Chelsea are looking to beat a number of Premier League rivals, including Manchester United, to the signing of African striker starlet Loukman Tapsoba, TEAMtalk understands.

Chelsea are one of number of clubs who have been following Tapsoba closely for most of 2025.

United have been seen as leading the charge for Tapsoba when it comes to English interest, but now TEAMtalk can reveal that Chelsea have stepped up their campaign to land him.

Tapsoba, who has been likened to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, impressed while playing for Burkina Faso at the recent Under-17 World Cup in Qatar, where he was actually one of the youngest at the tournament at just 15.

Indeed Tapsoba, attached to the Real du Faso academy, would be unable to move until 2027.

As well as United and Chelsea, the likes of Woolwich, Liverpool and Tottenham have also been doing their checks on him, as have the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

One of the best players in Jupiler pro league is the equivalent of winning League 2 player of the month for August.

I highly doubt this rumour...

Tottenham ready to pay to bring Troy Parrott back to N17

Fichajes are reporting that Tottenham are interested in signing Troy Parrott in the coming months, after he departed from north London for just £6.7m in the summer of 2024.

It is believed that Spurs are prepared to pay €35m (£30m approx) to sign the 23-year-old striker, who has impressed in the Netherlands and has scored 14 goals already this season.

During the international break, the Irishman saw his stock rise even further after scoring five goals against Portugal and Hungary, which helped his country secure a World Cup qualifying play-off place.
