CB has to be a red herring… we are stacked with CBs and Vuskovic to integrate
RCB is fine if Danso starts and Vuskovic deputizes next season. We will need another LCB, though...surely can't go into another season with Ben as cover for Micky. That Jun'ai kid can be our 5th CB and.

Let's cash in on Drag, Ash (just include a buy back clause) and the obvious one. Don't think Dorrington is good enough so send him out on loan to League One/Two or cut him.

Apparently Bayern have offered us Goretzka.

He’d be a good rotation player, but a) he’d be on mental wages and b) he’s apparently not the player he was. I’d take him, though, as long as he’s not given a long contract and his wages are around 175k. He currently earns 250k though…
I just dont get this take.
You think he's not the player he was, but you'd be happy to take him on reduced wages?
Paying him 175k instead of 250k ain't gonna make him a better player.

Id rather we went on people that are putting in numbers than potential.

Savinho has chance to be another odobert/Tel. Marmoush hasnt really cut it.
I think it’s a bit unfair to say Marmoush hasn’t cut it at City. He scored 7 goals in the second half of last season for a City side which wasn’t exactly firing on all cylinders. That’s not bad for a January signing who mostly played out on the left wing and is new to the league.

His competition this season have been the best player in the league and Doku who has really transformed into a top player this year. I think if we played him consistently in the same sort of role as Sonny had for us, we’d get 15+ goals a season out of him.

The big problem is the wages. We don’t pay anyone close to £300k a week, and as good a signing as I think Marmoush would be for us, I don’t know if he’s the player I would break that glass ceiling so spectacularly with, unless the owners have decided that is the ballpark we’re gonna start paying our top players in.

Didnt mido reccomend we signed him ages ago same with salah

In January?

Reckon we look at both of those in the summer. Vicario looks like he will end up at Inter and we can decide on RKM perm. Probably shift Richy after the WC as well.

Romero is our starting CB and captain.

Vusko is apparently staying in Germany 1 more year. Wants to play with his bro after the ban ends and his dad isn't rushing him into PL level.

Drag is interesting for sure. Maybe goes out on loan in January?

You're overthinking it; my point is all there. No one is a better play because they're paid more, or less. His wages currently reflect the player he was, not is.

i.e. Players have to take a cut at some point. He won't, and we won't get him, but it sounds like the kind of dumb shit we'd do, so I'm just making a point, we'd be stupid to pay it and undermine the other top-earners.

TLDR; He's not worth what he was. But he's still good enough to play a part.

p.s. For the record, giving players a pay bump has rarely meant an uptick in form (albeit briefly until the headlines fade).

Pay him an upfront one time fee of £20M then. We have to start matching these clubs at some point

Time to look at the various forward options we have (assuming Kulusevski and Solanke return by end of January) - utilising the ten forwards we currently have (Solanke, Richarlison, Kolo Muani, Kudus, Johnson, Kulusevski, Simons, Odobert, Tel, Scarlett) plus Madison by end of the season to make it eleven forward players

Striker - Solanke/Richarlison/Kolo Muani/Tel/Scarlett
Left Wing - Richarlison/Kolo Muani/Odobert
Right Wing - Kudus, Johnson/Kulusevski/Odobert
CAM/No 10 - Simons/Kulusevski (and Maddison by end of the season)

With a squad of 25 players, we are usually limited to 2 players per position - so with 10 players (and Maddison coming back as no 11) we already are over stocked for 4 positions - the issues we have had in first half of the season have been
- injuries to Solanke, Kulusevski (and Maddison) and first 3 months for Kolo Muani
- Lack of creativity both due to Kulusevski's injury and Simons unused to speed and physicality of PL.

Most of players are not readily saleable for various reasons (eg Richarlison as currently most reliable goalscorer), but we also need to fit total numbers of players into CL squad at 1 February (so we need to lose players or not register them at 1 Feb) or bring in an available top player now rather than in summer.

I could see :
- Sale of Johnson as he's not used much (and we have plenty of cover)
- Loan of Tel as he's not getting much playing time and not getting many goal involvements when he does (and we have plenty of cover).
- Good forwards are rarely available in January, and I've not seen mention of any serious improvements to our current players available - Marmousch might be the exception if we bring him in to play LW long term (I see Richarlison moving on in summer), Savinho has failed to get goal involvements since summer so not worthwhile.

I see most of our transfer activity happening in summer - IF we can upgrade some of the players we have - not in January.

January transfer activity might be an experienced midfielder good at both pressing and forward passing, and a Left Back given Udogie's availability.

Won't happen obviously, but doesn't mean it shouldn't.
Romero is our starting CB and captain.
Well he friggin shouldn't be.

Ok, didn't know.

Loan with obligation hopefully. Shame we're on par with them these days cause he'd be perfect for Moyes at Everton or Dyche at Forest.

The striker we've been linked to...

He's either Everton/Wolves material or he's what Lukaku was meant to be. No inbetween. Looks like a gamble.

Big unit, but looks like he has more skill than say a Lukaku or Carroll, good in the air and can hold the ball at, but prolific?

14 games and 9 goals with 1 assist, but the league he's in is far from the PL standard?

At twenty one years of age, another player with potential, and that's the gamble.
