No one should even bother to rate a window for at least half a season. Chances anre they’ll only look stupid if they do.

Many supporters tend to re-assess players after every game if not every touch because football is such an immediate game. You see it here with players like Odobert. More stupidity.

Correct.

I would say you also have to take into account so many other contribiting factors.

In fact I don't think you can actually assess a transfer window because it's far too complex.

Far better, and over time to rate players, and invariably that is by what they deliver over the duration.of their time with us, and their cost, although that's difficult.

For example Johnsom scored enough goals to more than warrant what turned out to be an 18 million pound outlay. I dare say the same might be said of Kudus as and when. Not great buys but neither will they objectively be seen as poor signings.

To do so by window fails to take in the good, the bad and the Ndombele,

Dude, so far the biggest (and only excluding loans) moves of the January Window (outside of the Johnson transfer) have been Alysson going to Villa, Fraser Foster going to Bournemouth, Pascal Gross rejoining Brighton and Danny Rose checking the Internet for a couple of Spam panic buys. Not exactly earth-shattering stuff.

It’s the 6th. Calm down.

I'd typically tend to agree with you but the biggest trf so far has been Bren......

....And that only stands to weaken us.

.........Even before the kudus injury.

I dont mind rating a window there and then - providing its an opinion that you can revisit as things develop

When people just set it in stone is when things get silly

I dont mind the point of view of "That window we all thought was amazing - but now its not looking so good"

Or vice versa

Ah, but see... That's cos you're a grown up; not a lying, shitbag troll.

Regarding the opinion that we won't buy until we've decided on Frank, I'm pretty sure that's wrong.

We set up the management structure to support switching managers while sticking to a spurs style (laughably we're playing brentford style right now). So I don't see that changing any time soon. We'll buy for the club, not for the manager, since that was the intent.

That's the big problem, we don't stick to a style or philosophy

I think that's always been the club policy tbh. Where we go wrong is not buying the quality of player we could and should be to allow any given manager the chance to make it work.
If you have the right quality, any manager worth his salt should be capable of utilising it in his style of play.

I mean, I think most people were positive after the window

And most wanted to be positive on Frank too - angeball with added pragmatism sounded like a winning combo

Hasnt really gone as we hoped though...

And that's the honesty right there.

Positive vibes on the window although I was one of many who preached caution on new signings as in how they would bed in,I thought Frank would bring attacking play, a bit of style and most definitely a greater sense of defensive stabillity.

Unless we get battered tomorrow, or if there are a chorus of boos to accompany a likely loss to Villa, Frank is going nowhere.

I disagree on the players we might be seeking to bring in if anyone suggests they are manager-neutral,and that is a worry.

Speculating but if semenyo having a medical at 115 premier league charges fc on thursday will that free up us to get savinho in the next week. Lets see.

I hope not.

What would he do in Frank's hoof ball manner of playing and it's absolutely not a priority.

City will mug us off because we are mugs, and we will buy some over-priced waif who could quite easily.add less overall value than Johnson.

It's got fcuk up written all over it.

I think that is both wrong and right.

If we were just about to start the season with our current squad, and let's assume Kudus wasn't injured but all else the same as in Maddison, Solanke and Kulusevski all out, I would say chill Phil.

We have seen how Frank is using the squad, and it's not on par with their ability, but it's also been weakened, and we are not the only team looking for new players.

We have sold an admittedly limited player but one who scored goals, and we are not strongly linked with a single player. Not one.

You might say it's the 6th but we had bigger appeal on presumption than the reality of January 26.

My view is the board won't go for it too much this window and wait to see what an unimpressive and uninspiring (so far), Frank does for the rest of the season.
