Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If Mick does that it's gonna be worse than name calling in this era.
I just don't think any of these players have any particular respect for Tottenham as a club. We see this by how they don't understand the current fan frustration. They just don't know this club at all or have any particular loyalty to us. Hence they never show up in derby games. They don't understand that them games mean more.

That's why I think most our current crop of top players would jump at the chance of joining Woolwich if the opportunity presented itself. Its a very very sad state of affairs. Atleast the last time we were this far behind Woolwich (early 2000s) we had players like Anderton, Keane, King, Dawson, Jenas, etc who were proper spurs and hated Woolwich. This crop of players aren't that. They'd all do the sol Campbell.

Right now he’s the only forward who I think might score against Villa

I’ll worry about what anyone might be in the future after that tbh

Oh FFS.

It's a sh!t time and surprise surprise, players would rather join a club competing for honours and seemingly on the up.

We just have to get through this, we will.......... I think, and remember that for the next 4 months we are Europa champions.

Exactly mate 👏

It's another one of those lazy, loser arguments that gets thrown around when our form and results are in the shitter

"Bwahh,,I'd rather throw the acadimee kidz in than play these primar :angryscouser: doners... bwahh at least they'd fight for the shirt blah blah"

ermm. how about no..lets calm down, have a nice cup of tea🍵 and rationalise it.

How about, we start acting like a Big Club acts, buy Big club players, pay Big club salaries, to justify our Big club ticket prices and our Big club revenues.

And we'll start to see the academy take care of itself, just like it does at other Big, wealthy football clubs, where any top talent coming through will naturally drip feed into the first team squad
Slagging off homegrown, died in the wool, Spurs academy players now.

You really aren't beating the charges, young man.

As mentioned previously and proven here, you prefer Tanguy N'Dombele to Harry Kane. £65m over free. A pretty, shiny, expensive thing to prop on the mantelpiece at the pub. I bet you were apoplectic when Sherwood dropped Soldado for Kane. ''WHERE IS MY EXPENSIVE STRIKER, TIM! WHO IS THIS ACADEMY LOSER YOU'VE STARTED!''

As for buying big club players...name those that will come to Spurs please.

I don't expect a response, because I know the above has you gazumped, so I shan't be waiting.

Harry Kane is pretty much a one off, which other academy players have made it big in the past 25 years?

The club really fucked up bad by not strengthening with big money players when Conte took it to a 4th place Champions League spot, when it had something to offer the best players.

Now look at the state of it,

Good post mate , I yearn for the days when we used to have a core spine of British players, now it seems we would rather take a punt on someone from Brazil then look to the lower leagues for the next Dele.
Poch at one had Dier , Dele , Kane , rose and Walker at one point , I remember years back we used to give Chelsea stick as they had no British players now it’s what we have become and I think it matters as they understand the rivalries in this league , remember the time someone tried to get Kane to sign a gooner shirt and he laughed and refused.

None of Pochs team would have dreamed of signing for the Gooners , like you say this current lot would jump at the opportunity and with Vinai in the mix , if they offer enough we would snap their hands off!

World class players are few and far between in general so it is going to be a rare thing.

One could argue City have only produced one (Phil Foden), and even then, he's arguably not.

In fact, no other side in the Prem has created a player as good as Harry Kane from their academy. So we can, and have produced the best.

So dismissing our academy because it doesn't produce a Harry Kane every 5 years is nonsense.

The best players in the Prem for the last 25 years have tended to be foreign.

Look at current England. Our best players are from Birmingham, TOTTENHAM, Man City, Woolwich and West Ham.

All those sides have produced arguably a single world class player in that time.

Either way, I don't like fans slagging off and dismissing our young players, period.

I would also attribute us to the development of Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon who all joined us in their mid teens, although technically not academy products.

:angeshock:
Okay 2 players in 25 years.

So on average we can expect a top quality player that we want in our first team to come through the academy every 12.5 years.

It's why we keep signing youngsters from other clubs.

With our financial clout we should have a coupe of top class players at the club at any given time, ENIC have allowed it to dwindle. It's gone from Modric and Bale, Kane and Son. to a club with no inspiration.

Look at them down the road, they have soma academy players but they're spending big, they're weren't all that attractive to big players when Arteta became manager. but they started by spending big on Rice and built around that.

And we're hoping that Mikey Moore will be our saviour in about five years time?

Okay I get it, you want mediocre academy players instead of spending big on top players because we had someone in the England team.

I suppose it takes all sorts to make up a supporter group.

Got your timeline a bit mixed up, mate. Rice joined them about 4 years into the project, definitely didn't start there.
Well whatever but our club could have bid for Rice and IIRC it didn't. There should be no reason for them to become more attractive to top players than our club, ENIC have let it happen. the club is on par with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, teams with a fraction of our financial weight.
