We don't have any top players or seemingly any academy players ready, so we're doing neither.
I'd like to see the club at least bid for a top deep lying playmaker like Stiller.

I'll ignore the jibe, as I like you as poster, and not sure the disrespect was asked for other than making salient points.Okay I get it, you want mediocre academy players instead of spending big on top players because we had someone in the England team.
I suppose it takes all sorts to make up a supporter group.
World class players are few and far between in general so it is going to be a rare thing.
One could argue City have only produced one (Phil Foden), and even then, he's arguably not.
In fact, no other side in the Prem has created a player as good as Harry Kane from their academy. So we can, and have produced the best.
So dismissing our academy because it doesn't produce a Harry Kane every 5 years is nonsense.
The best players in the Prem for the last 25 years have tended to be foreign.
Look at current England. Our best players are from Birmingham, TOTTENHAM, Man City, Woolwich and West Ham.
All those sides have produced arguably a single world class player in that time.
Either way, I don't like fans slagging off and dismissing our young players, period.
I would also attribute us to the development of Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon who all joined us in their mid teens, although technically not academy products.
I mentioned Stiller recently. Like him very much but he's not tier 1 either. He would also be a signing based on potential, which is my point. That's all we can attract right now.We don't have any top players or seemingly any academy players ready, so we're doing neither.

Having permission to play 12 players will help a bit reckonTeam next season so far :-
Goalkeeper (not Vic)
Spence Danso Vlakovic Souza/Udogie
Kudus Simons Gray Bergy
Kulu Solanke Cheap alternative to Semenyo
Bench includes:-
One who was going to sign but then signed elsewhere.
One who was going to sign but decided to stay
A loan player who is past it.
An ex Chelski player, we always fall for that.
Cheers, it's just critical thinking devoid of emotion. I'd love to spunk 250m IF I KNEW THE RIGHT PLAYERS WOULD BE SELECTED.Mate, you are simply bringing too much reason on this forum.
I do think you left out that crazy United group of years ago but beyond that, absolutely bang on the money.
All fans, and probably not just us are blinded by what they perceive as failure. They also look elsewhere and focus solely on the teams who are currently enjoying some degree of success.
All said, this club have taken their collective eye off the ball, and the biggest failures have been poor recruitment and not looking at a manager who develops teams as opposed to those who only want readymade models.
In effect in appeasing Kane, and that's not blaming Kane, the club took two steps back in hiring Conre and Mourinho, and iyou look painful at that lot, it's in the 2 areas I highlight where I think you see clear separation.
We're not having the same conversation, I'm talking about Spurs needing to bid for top players from around the World, and if we find the occasional academy kid good enough, possibly Mikey Moore in a few years, then great. We can not rely on that at all, we need to spend much bigger than we are.I'll ignore the jibe, as I like you as poster, and not sure the disrespect was asked for other than making salient points.
That said, you didn't retort to the facts I stated about how rare major academy products are in ENGLAND. England as a standard does not produce world class players anymore.
You are criticising us not producing more than Harry Kane, then I made you aware no other club has produced a Harry Kane level player. He's still England's best player. That was Spurs' doing.
I then told you that no other club has done what you are criticising us for in that time.
It's an ENGLISH thing, not a SPURS thing.
You say you want big name, expensive signings. Who? Eze pied us. Semenyo politely declined. These are tier 2 and 3 players.
Name a tier 1 player we can attract. Just one and I'll concede the debate.
He's an elite passer and much better than what we have already. It doesn't need to be the greatest player of all, just someone that immediately improves our team.
It's nice in theory, mate. But pragmatically, it's pie in the sky thinking right now. We're not having the same conversation, I'm talking about Spurs needing to bid for top players from around the World, and if we find the occasional academy kid good enough, possibly Mikey Moore in a few years, then great. You seem to be discussing youth players coming through the ranks in English football in general, I really don't care about other teams academy players. I care that are club now should be bidding for the best players around.
We missed a huge chance not backing conte properly after finishing top 4. We had Harry Kane at his peak and all the English players idolised him. We could have got Rice over Bissouma that Summer if the club were willing to pay. He idoloised kane from england and would have come. Also conte had huge pull which we've since lost. We could have signed a top centre back instead of lenglet. That was the sliding door moment.
I'd take Stiller/Baleba, Gallagher and maybe a holy grail punt at McTominay. Steel, experience and immediate upgrades. He's an elite passer and much better than what we have already. It doesn't need to be the greatest player of all, just someone that immediately improves our team.
It's more likely going to be someone like Conor Gallagher, more energy but little class.
We could also have had their goalkeeper instead of Vicario. I agree with your point totally, the club missed it's opportunity and now look at it.We missed a huge chance not backing conte properly after finishing top 4. Our club is a never ending series of sliding doors where we always somehow manage to miss the trainWe missed a huge chance not backing conte properly after finishing top 4.
