Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Eriksen started poorly, picked up, then his last 6-12 months were utterly horrific.
There were games in that period where we'd have been better playing with 10 men, he was that bad.
Good in the middle of his spell at Spurs, but he also had the benefit of one of the worlds best finishers tucking away goals others don't score, boosting Eriksens assist stats.
You don’t understand football at all.

Como’s rising star Jacobo Ramón has become one of the most sought-after young defenders of the winter transfer window, attracting intense interest from several Premier League clubs.

Since December, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool have been monitoring him closely, while Newcastle United, Brighton and Crystal Palace have also sent scouts to watch his performances firsthand, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

Ramón, who joined Como from Real Madrid last summer, has quickly stood out as a composed, technically gifted centre-back with exceptional reading of the game.

At just 21 years old, he has already become a starter and one of the most consistent performers for the Italian club, contributing to Como’s ambitious project in Italy.

Jacobo Ramón has impressed Chelsea & Liverpool

The defender has made 16 league appearances for the Serie A side this season.

The Spanish defender is under contract until 2030, a long-term deal that reflects how highly Como rate him.

However, crucial clauses included in his contract mean any transfer is far from straightforward.

Real Madrid inserted an €8 million buy-back option and a 50% sell-on clause when they allowed him to leave, ensuring they maintain significant influence over Ramón’s future.

Although his current market value is estimated at around €18 million, the real cost to Premier League clubs could be substantially higher.

Because Madrid either receive half of any sale or can reacquire the player themselves for €8 million before selling him on for profit, English clubs must construct

financial packages
that satisfy both Como and Madrid.
This could be the Paz scenario all over again.

Go back and watch literally any match he played in before he finally left. Especially anything from August 2019 onwards.

Eriksen wanted out end of 18/19. He was explicit about it but we dithered so he stayed for 6 months before finally getting his move - and Poch being sacked along the way.

Before that he put up more than 20 G/A for the previous three seasons.

Definitely can’t see them adding a passing cm until the summer.

Bergvall becomes the question because Frank won’t be here and any sensible coach will re-profile him as an 8 instead of this bollox that Frank has been up to in the 10.
I don't see Bergvall ever being a passing 8 though IMO, he will end up a better version of Gallagher in the long run owing to his good engine, physicality, eagerness to put himself about and ability to carry well, but passing is not his biggest strength, even under Ange he had very middling stats for progressive passes compared to other 8s in the league.

It's a weird one because he has the technical ability to make any pass but the decision-making and mentality to pass isn't really who he is. Agree with you, he wants to carry and run.

Barca had him lined up as a Frenkie De Jong type and he definitely passes the football.

To be fair at Barca you would need to be able to do both to even sniff their first team, Pedri is in the 98th+ percentile for both progressive passes and progressive carries, Gavi can do both to some extent but more of a Xavi-esque tempo-setter IMO.

Agree that Bergvall has the vision for mid to long range defence-splitting passes but his decision making under pressure is rather lacking IMO which makes him a bit of a liability if you wanted him to sit deeper and dictate tempo more than break forward and disrupt the lines of defence. To some extent I can see why Frank has been keen to profile him as a 10 as he's maybe the only player we have fit with the physicality to mix it with PL defenders, but unfortunately goals and incisive passes into the box are not quite arrows he has in his quiver yet IMO, nothing to say he can't get there but I think Frank has seen that Bergvall is a ways off being able to solidly contribute in that manner there. We have seen flashes of his ability to penetrate the box but I do see him doing this in more of a lampard-esque 8 role in the long term as he's just too big and strong with too good an engine not to end up in the centre of the park.

This would have dragged on and been a deadline day loan deal if Levy was still here

Fucking nuts!! He’s our best player and gives a fuck. Folk getting pissed off because he argued with fans because he’s frustrated as fuck at how things are going. He’s been our most consistent player all season. His attitude is spot on every game he plays. He’s irreplaceable. We’d have lost more games if it wasn’t for his last ditch tackles or recovery runs.
How we can have a support that is not happy with letting someone like Johnson go but wouldn’t happy to sell Micky!! Brain dead.
I don't think it's so much letting Johnson go that supporters aren't happy about more so, not having a replacement lined up, So instead of plugging gaps in the team, another gap has been created.
