I wouldn't be devastated if we signed Paqueta.

There's a good creative player in their and he's been hampered by playing with absolute dross. Wasn't too long ago City were after him until the betting allegations.

Bit disappointing if he is the Pinnacle of our ambition but think he would improve us

Frank said no dickheads.

I know, I know...

Vuskovic is already better than Carragher (will show next season). He is a bit like Vidic, Balkan stock.

Think there’s every possibility he becomes better than all three, for a period if not overall career wise.

Carragher was a terrific defender mate. That's bias right there.

You can't play for a club like Liverpool as many times as he did without being very good.

If Vuskovic proves to be anywhere as good as Carragher, in reality, then we have a real player.

Agree.
On that Conte was right.
Spence is rubbish - and unfortunately it's very difficult to see much in Gray.
Sunk costs fallacy in playing them for years.
We should learn from our mistakes with Skipp, Winks, Benatalob and others.
Players don't become good enough by wishful thinking

The perfect TFC post. Two players - one in the England squad and one in the Under 21 England team; literally only 18 months into Gray and Spence's time in the playing squad (hardly "playing them for years") and finishes by comparing them to Academy products who did a job while here but, more importantly, were sold for good money.

"Perfect is the enemy of good" should be this forum's motto. :D

Looks like Harry won't return to Spurs, or any other EPL club, soon...

It’s the year 2047 and I’m still trying to convince myself and everyone else that Jackson is a player about to explode.

Same.

Not a player that I am going to actively push for us to get. But also not one that I would complain about landing either.

Just on the balance of what position Paqueta plays - we dont need him

Are you saying we do not need a good passing CM?

Cause that is the one thing that we do need above everything else.
While Vicario is not the best GK around, he is still decent GK.
While Solanke has not set the world on fire and Richie fails to play as targetman, they still can produce some goals.

But we have ZERO central midfielders for whom the progressive passing would be the biggest strength. None.

We need that kind of reinforcement above everything else.

Im saying we dont need yet another 8/10

Seriously?

Cause he is a EPL level midielder that can actually hold on to a ball and who can do creative passing.
You know...the thing we have not done this season at all?

Maybe for that reason?

I mean - look- I do not think that Paqueta would be an ideal signing. Or best signing of decade or even year.
But purely in terms of skillset, he fits in very well to what we need. He has played significant part (not majority though) of his games for West Ham as CM. He could play next to Palhinha to provide quick passing and interchanges.

Gallagher is OK passer, but I see him as more of a dynamo. Pressing, running, carrying. But not a passing maestro.
Paqueta for me would fit into that category.

I would absolutely prefer us to sign for example Tonali or Gravenberch (and big number of other such players) ahead of him. But that is hardly viable, is it? I in fact do like all of our youngish midfielders- Bergvall, Sarr and Gray. But to me, none of them currently offer ability to consistently make line-breaking passes or high volume of vertical passing towards opposition goal. Paqueta could do that.
The problem is that he doesn't.

I've seen all the "but he's checked out cos West Hame are shite" arguments, but Bowen hasn't, and he's playing in the same team.

Id give him a very wide berth personally. I've seen nothing from him that makes me think yeah, we could work with that. Add on the baggage and he's just another millstone around our necks.
