Who from all of our midfielders (talking about CMs not attacking midfielders) outside of Bissouma (who is not actually part of the squad) could say that his biggest strength is long and mid-range passing? Name me just one please. And then we can talk.

I think youre missing my point.

Passing it easy, if you have players making moves/runs into spaces and you know where to expect them. (we dont do this)

Just adding "a passer" without the above is pointless, that player has no one to pass too - is handicapped.

Aside from which, mid-long range passing isnt the only way to progress the ball. Think of Pochs team, Dembele/Wanyama were a shield, would carry, would 1-2, and would get the ball to other players to progress. We are probably more geared to this (but again, we dont do this either really)

I wouldn't be devastated if we signed Paqueta.

There's a good creative player in their and he's been hampered by playing with absolute dross

It is kind of amusing that a player no one particularly wanted, and was seen as a piece of furniture a month ago that we'd have gladly jumped to move on, is now seen as completely necessary.

Speaking for myself, I've championed this guy from day one.

I reckon there's a top notch baller there, with a temperament you'd kill for in a player.

Id be severely pissed if we let him go before he got the chance to prove all his doubters wrong.

Ok. Got it.

Players ability to make accurate long passes does not improve our passing play and build up.
No more questions and no point of having discussion here!

People get very fixated on sigular solutions. I do it, we all do.

Get passer = better build up just doesnt quite add up for me.

Get passer + get players moving (fucking coach them!) = better build up does

The player/attribute in isolation isnt enough

And so far, under Frank particularly, I just dont think itll make the impact you hope it will.

Under another manager, where we see the shape and tactics being worked on - see where this passing player fits - see the gap of their absence, absolutely! I get it...

...but context matters, and right now I think a passer would be utterly wasted.
