If we offered Bournemouth 65-70m and Semenyo 150-200k a week, he absolutely would’ve joined us.

Why do people think it's only about money with these footballers?

He was being linked with Woolwich, Liverpool, City and us in the Summer, even if we offered big money we would have been his last choice, what's more those contract talks were obviously going on for a while so it would have been planned he left the club in a future window hence why he negotiated a release clause.

It is interesting what's going on, does suggest they consider the season a right off even though it's just only mid season and there's still European places that can realistically be achieved with a strong second half

And that possibly save money for frank successor

They also seem to think relegation is virtually impossible

"Interesting" is not the word I'd use for what is going on.

Inept springs to mind, along with a few other words like shambolic, chaotic and outright outrageous.

They're gambling with our future here. They're taking a risk on what we have being enough, despite the fact that there are low odds on us getting anything from the next 4 games and the majority of our senior players, who are injured, being out long term.

We have an 8 point buffer over West Ham, who are looking like they've knuckled down. Over those 4 games, they play Burnley and Bournemouth, where they have a realistic chance of around 6 points, particularly as they are at home to Bournemouth. There's not even a guarantee that they won't get something from Chelsea today.

We could find ourselves with them 2 points behind us.

What happens if we pick up another couple of injuries over the next 4 games?

We need players to do a job for us right now. Deal with the squad issues in the Summer, but action should have been taken by now to reinforce, and one senior player being introduced falls well short of that.

For those who think this is an overreaction, I think you need to give your heads a wobble. We're going to be playing 4 teams who have everything to play for over the remainder of the season, all vying for CL places or the title, and all with stronger starting 11's and more depth than us.

As we currently are, we will need an enormous amount of good fortune to come away with anything even marginally good, points wise, from our next 4 games, and the following 2 aren't gimmes either.

Since when have we EVER had good fortune go out way this season?

Panicked I am not, but I am extremely worried about our current predicament and what appears to be abject apathy in the people tasked with running our club.

It's really lovely seeing all these former ENIC enthusiasts finally switching to full on ENIC OUT!
Never thought I'd see the day. But at least the fan base is more united than ever.
Just a few stragglers left, now.

I can’t help wondering if Thomas went rogue on this one or if they workshopped it as an idea?

Did they really get together and think that being transparent about a failed bid for a player who we are about to play against is going to get a positive reaction from the fans?

In amongst it all he actually made reference to the entertainment value of trf windows.

No pro should be thinking in such terms FFS.

(Even coming from fans is misguided foolishness.)

Just shut up Thomas... You're making things worse for everybody with your dumb rent-a-quote nonsense!

I’m not panicking about this January window.

My read of the situation is that the board don’t trust Frank long term but trust him enough to see out the season and avoid relegation (I also believe in this and do not believe we will be relegated or even come close). This is why there have been few transfers, also January is typically a quiet transfer window for all clubs except Man City.

The board are going to see how the rest of the season pans out before making a final call on Frank’s future but they are already enticed by the prospect of a Poch reunion in July which would get a lot of the fan base onboard (how could you deny that Argentinian teddy bear face). If they bring Poch in after the World Cup they will do so with promises of serious squad investment which I expect Poch will demand and they know this - hence why they are not currently spending money as it is being saved for the summer.

I could be wrong but I have a feeling this is how events unfold.

He wasn’t being linked with City or Liverpool in the summer at all. Not properly anyway. The two teams that formally put in enquiries were us and United. If we’d had a bid accepted by Bournemouth, he’d have joined us, I’ve no doubt about that.

When Levy left and people were saying we would know in January if the younger generation of Lewis's were serious, I thought January is not the time to judge but next Summer. However I did not expect us to be 14th in the PL with so many injuries. We have far too many players out on loan which hinders European squads as the youngsters are extra. For next season we will not have Europe and the problem will change from overplaying some players to giving everyone a chance.

We really need to look at those on loan and ok, reloan the teenagers but those that need to be included in the squad need to be accessed & integrated instead of someone else or got rid of. Vuskovic can replace Dragusin, Moore should be kept as an underage player.

Scarlett who will be 22 as not been able to get a start. I very much doubt he will get in the squad next season. His value in a sale will not increase significantly for a few months experience at Hibs. So why did we let him go when we are still so short of forwards? I also cannot see any gain in sending Kinsky on loan & granting Tel his wish to go would be criminal.

Whilst my expectations for this window were low, it has turned out very disappointing. Johnson was not the greatest but we are desperate. Gallagher was not what was needed & we still do not know if this young LB is going to get any mins this season.

Frank said that we will go big in the summer but with Kula, Maddison & Vuskovic coming in, we need that money to be spent on no more than 2/3 expensive but game changing players. However as we have found out in the last 2 windows those type of players will not come to us as they prefer the teams more likely to challenge for the PL title than us. Any change of owner will not change that in the short term.

I see the keeper Ortega at City is going to Forest for £500k. If we’re shipping out Kinsky, would he not be a decent replacement? Or is half a million too rich for our blood?

Feel like he’d actually maybe be a viable alternative to Vicario.
