I massively support CFT, but I don't think this idea is very clever for the exact reasons you mention above.
It won’t work, and will open them up to ridicule from the usual losers.

Spurs are a much bigger club than Manchester City and Chelsea.
Spurs have not won as many trophies as these clubs because of the ownership models since the early 1990's.
The Europa League trophy parade showed the world the size and potential of THFC.
If you are a Spurs supporter don't ever say that Spurs are not a big club in any context.
THFC can be as big and successful as any club in Britain.
