Lol this place.

You can tell the people with agendas and eyes fluttering invitingly at Woolwich:

Spurs try to sign Semenyo = Fucking pathetic we tried FC again!
Woolwich try to sign Tonali = Proper FC

Neither were ever gonna happen!

I dont think its pathetic to try for Semenyo, would have been perfect for us

I dont think any here think that, really

The small time pathetic stuff I think was more about Frank talking about it as if to prove our ambition

Not related to this window, but it still annoys me that Eze went to the Gooners. For all his going on about always wanting to play for them, he never got around to checking to see if he would actually get on the pitch. Could have joined Spurs and actually played, but no, he had to fulfill his lifetime dream of sitting on the bench for them.
I don’t think he is bothered. Big pay rise & a league title medal in his first year. Typical modern day footballer sadly.

It’s all opinion unless you’re in the board room or close to it.

Whether it was an official PR strategy or not, Levy was painted as the person holding the club back (which was always bollocks IMHO) and the Lewis children took action to rectify that. Nothing has changed though has it?

I’ve always been of the opinion his ousting was a precursor to sale.

It's either than, or they ("www.thelewisfamily.org") are so out of touch that they underestimated the job that was being done in spite of their lack of investment, and they considered £100m to be a huge amount of money to change the club.

Yeah for some.

But others definitely use it as a stick to beat the club with regardless.

They cry 'sign ready made quality' and then cry 'why would he wanna come to us?' when it's revealed we put a bid in somewhere.

Frank would have been better to not have mentioned it though I agree.

I feel like nothing has changed since Levy left in terms of how we do transfers. Our new thing seems to be getting a player we wanted 12 months later. Tel, Kolo Muani and Gallagher fall into that bracket, we didn't get either when we really needed them but got them on the cheap a year later when neither player was really needed.

If we were serious at all then we'd have really pushed to sign Ndiaye. Surely he'd try force the move on his end if he knew we were serious. Champions league football is still a huge carrot to dangle and something we won't have to offer next summer. Its all the same buzz words and bluffing. Nothing has changed. We haven't attempted to sign one top player bar Semenyo who we knew we couldn't get. Look across the league and Ndiaye is the next best alternative but we haven't even attempted that. Bluffers

And do you know what bluffers do? Make a totally unrealistic bid on deadline day which they know has no chance of going through this late but we can make it look like we tried. As things stand we sold brennan Johnson and never replaced him!

What/who's? You lost me.

My point is it ain't worth nish unless it's from the horses mouth or a tangible outcome.... Anything in between isn't worth a damn.

You're quite possibly right about that... Although doesn't the article you posted indicate they've stopped listening to offer for the time being?
Anything in the press is just opinion unless it’s an official statement.

It’s very common for the official line to be ‘we’re not for sale’ when it’s really a case of ‘we’re not for sale …… unless the price is right.’

If you hock the club around making it common knowledge it’s for sale you’re not going to maximise the price. You need to make the purchaser believe that it could be available, but it’s going to require a very strong bid to make it happen.

I see.... Yes; I'm full ware of this..........

An ever increasing majority seem to neglect this fact however and instead regurgiate the bits they like as fact or flat out spin their won.

.....And so we come full circle: The club didn't "promise" a "warchest" yet we're swarmed by people who will swear blind they did.

Says in the premier league handbook

With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.

Therefore international loans do not have a quota.

How are you defining "above quotas"?

We want a defender and an attacker by 7pm.

Who'd have thought we'd still be waiting for deadline day even when the dark lord has been sacked.

How are you defining "above quotas"?

- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

The quotas above apply only to domestic clubs, including Wales. We cannot have more than two concurrent loans from English or Welsh clubs, and not two from the same club.

For loans from outside the UK (including Scotland and Northern Ireland), there’s no incoming limit, though outgoing loans are capped at six.

For context, Everton brought in five loanees last season, Ipswich five, and Fulham previously six.
