This was the reason why we couldn't sign Tevez (even if we tried to) in that Saha window. We already had Adebayor but Harry was waffling on like it wasn't an issue and made a bunch of people, even to this day, think it was possible and we didn't want to
Rubbish. Tevez had refused to play for City and they were actively shopping him around. Harry wanted him because Adebayor was very hit and miss and Defoe had some niggling injury issues. A deal was possible and I'm convinced we'd have got third. Your version of events is the real waffle here.

Thanks.

Now, please intermesh this with out CT/HG status, plus our finances and tell us who is attainable please!

I would have been happy with Eze

I did think he was over rated, tends to go long spells without doing much, but when he's "on" he is excellent

I thought we could well be a better move for him

Woolwich would undoubtedly just play him off the left as Palace did, which, while he was effective - was never really his best position

I felt we would have played him as a proper #10, made him the absolute main man, and I thought he could have thrived with us in that role

So I was disappointed we missed out

Then we signed Simons, and I think everything worked out for the best :franklol:

There's absolutely no way you can compare our ambition with Woolwich's.

Look how much they spent over the summer. They have incredible strength in depth now.

Havertz gets injured and they sign Eze within 12 hours.

Meanwhile, it's been clear we'd need to replace Son for at least 2 seasons and we're still twiddling our thumbs.

I absolutely hate to say it but I wish we had a fucking tenth of their ambition. These owners are taking us backwards.

Agree, but there is no point comparing apples with pears.

The right argument about that lot today was with Pochettino's squad of 7 or 8 years ago.

And we baulked at taking the next and crucial big step, although we should still have been good enough to win trophies.

I think by joining Woolwich over us he will miss out on a World Cup, play far fewer minutes, be regarded as a bench warmer instead of a poster boy, but probably will earn a little more money and get one of those Premier League winners medals that can be taken as seriously as Scott Carson's.

Whatever floats your boat. I think the whole childhood fan, club rivalry came into it at least partially which is not the attitude I would expect from a professional anyway, so fuck him.

We had Adebayor on loan and the only way we could have afforded Tevez was on loan, but we couldn't have 2 loans from City at the same time.

I think I'll trust Redknapp's word over yours. Redknapp - Spurs tried for Tev
Redknapp: I'd take Tevez tomorrow

"If Manchester City want to let me have him on loan and massively subsidise it, I'll take him tomorrow.

Or, to translate in your style:

Less of the Woolwich adulation.

Still the club that protected Thomas Partey for years.

Don't give a fuck about their ambition, nothing admirable about them.
The desire from far too many in here to be more like Woolwich is vomit inducing.

They've spent a billion and won nothing over the past few seasons.

So many Spurs fans so quick to praise them though.

Of course we want our owners - be they the current ones or new ones - to give us better tools to compete. Don't have to nosh off Woolwich all the time to make that point though.

Their track record indicates they actually do try.

Gabriel Jesus
Havertz
Declan Rice
Timber
Hincapie
Calafiori
Eze
Gyokores

And players on their bench would walk into our first team. Shame on the owners, not fans who just want to see their club do better.
It’s the double standard which is obvious.

If we are linked with a player out of nowhere on deadline day then fans will say « We Tried FC » or « too little too late ».

When Woolwich do it they are a proper club showing ambition.

There’s no difference between those actions but the judgement is opposite.
