To be fair, Vinai was sort of setting us up for this:

I agree in one sense that I don't want us to sign garbage just to fill the gaps; but we sold our top goalscorer last year, seemingly with no plan of a replacement.
Are there no players anywhere in Europe who do a job on loan or with a permanent deal? Have we identified no attainable targets since July? What the fuck are these people doing over there?
