Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

6 arrivals at Fiorentina by the looks of it.
You know, the club our DoF or whatever his made up title is went to.

I was a little sceptical at the time, but the announcement Paratici was staying at Spurs was just a bit of PR - in reality I'm sure Paratici could have helped if Spurs had needed him as all the Fiorentina moves were loans and low value transfers.

A good deal of the problem for Spurs this window was an absence of quality players available (very few players actually moved) and we decided against bringing in the likes of Lookman for £35m (probably correctly even though I wanted him many years ago when he was at Charlton) as he'd need to be moved on again in a year or two.

A missed opportunity of a window sure - but I'm not sure whether anyone moved the dial enough for us to want to sign them

The problem was a lack of talent at board level to find and acquire what we need.
What happened to the data led approach?
Surely that throws up a dozen names for each position.
Just go through the list and get one for each we need.

The problem is ENIC
It's always been ENIC.
They use whatever excuse they can at any given time to get out of spending.

Whichever position you choose, there are players who can be named

Spurs problem right now is to upgrade from the likes of Bissouma, but a data led approach is likely to tell you great players for 2 years time or players at clubs who are not available (eg Morgan Gibbs White)...... or more squad level players.

And our injury list being the other practical problem

ENIC only care about profit. Intangible assets like the stadium and training ground are seen as justified high investments. Players are expendable and the only metric these cowboys operate by is how cheaply they could make money from succeeding in Europe.

Even if it leaves us in a relegation battle.

Or for them to join us...

Wham very unlikely to get to 35 points (currently on 20 points and averaging less than 1 point a game).

Spurs on 29 points so need 7 points from 14 games to finish above Wham.

Yes we are vulnerable to injuries but we will get players back who will pick up points

So this relegation story is just a wind up - bigger real problem is not finishing in european places

Despite everything Spurs are still in top circa 10 clubs in europe for high wages.

Add in London (wives shopping, culture etc) and great stadium etc, and if there are a number of players wanting to move Spurs are not a bad choice.

If few players move (as this window) we don't compete with Mancity for example
You make a compelling argument...those women do like to spend....

Rightly or wrongly I just think that until we aren't in a relegation battle, we're in one.

Sorry supporters- we wanted to do more but we were too busy planning concerts instead!

If I am honest I am more worried about who will leave end of this season. No Europe, Disconnected fan base, ENIC lying, Injury prone squad. TOXIC Season. MVD, Tel, Romero, Muani - looking to leave so when Kulu and Madison come back we just threading water again for another season
Romero and Micky will 1 zillion per cent request a transfer...and kick up a major fuss when told it ain't happening. But eventually they'll go.

Think some big clubs may also go after Bergvall and though he sounds like a nice, grateful kid...not impossible his head will get turned and his agent will agitate for a move. Someone offers 40 odd mil, ENIC will defo listen.

Reckon Vuskovic will be an issue too.

Can easily see a situation arising whereby we lose a couple more to injury and are having to field unexperienced youngsters whilst being dragged into a relegation battle. What a total mess and joke of a scenario. Most of our injuries are long term also.
We have the worst medical team in the history of professional sport.

Also, clubs doing as shite as we are always get more 'injuries'.

I love the fact that he hates the fuckers at the top just as much as we do, and that he calls them out for it. Good lad.

As much as I dislike the bloke and think he's proper overrated, I'll give him that...he does open his mouth. Hopefully he won't backtrack and edit his post this time.

Just wish more of our current & ex-players (and managers) dared speak their mind. But too scared of being sued and/or losing their VIP privileges.

Staggering we haven’t signed anyone but Gallagher who’s ready to play now with the state we are in.
Enic need to sell the club and soon or we will literally be doing a Leeds in the next year or two - then a fire sale from the championship to cut the wage bill further and fuck the club for a decade.
ENIC will not sell.

They're making zillions out the Spurs cash cow.
