Last time I went looking for black boots I couldn't fucking find any! Playing, at that time, as a keeper, the last thing I wanted was Predators or day-glo Nike T90's.

If the ground was dry enough I'd always wear my Astros anyway, and I too always went for Addidas...I just found them more comfortable!

I love a goal from a towering header from a run up, the best player for this is sadly Andy Carroll, Caulker's goal away at City a couple of seasons ago was a good example of a Spurs one.

Remembering your first ever goal (I was always a full back, and not very good, so it wasn't very common). There was a gaggle of confusion way up forward and I was already on a pretty high line (extremely high for the 80's), ran forward and just chipped it over about 6 people's heads. Soared right into the goal without the keeper even noticing. I couldn't see it go in and didn't realize I had scored until I heard someone say "holy shit" and the whistle blew.

I love the fealing when you win and you can afford to act magnanimously to the wanker whose been trying to kick you all match.

shake of the hand "unlucky mate, good game". They no more want to shake your hand than get noshed of by a goat. But they got no choice or they lose face. So out goes thier hand combined with minimal eye contact and your one happy smug bastard.

Didn't know quite where to put this but as it reflects all the things I love about amateur football I suppose it's appropriate. For those that play Sunday League this will put a smile on your boat race:

fucking hell, the first guy interviewed, Marv, I know him through punk. Did a zine called Gadgie, the pub he talks of is The Indian Queen is in Boston Lincs. My old band played there a few times and us and two touring bands all slept in the pool room that was also the dogs room one night. Great guy. I think he was a PE teacher as he used to get all of the punks rounded up on the mic to circle pit and mosh to the bands.
