Emery is a winner. Only the goons could make him look bad.
Slott? with this squad? nah...

Any judgment on the quality of this squad is off the table with Frank in charge.

No manager in our history had 3 players on the type of wages that Palinha, Simons and RKM are getting paid, join in the same window. Add Kudus and objectively Frank was backed more than any coach in our recent history. Hes not getting the best out of any of them.

He chose to freeze out Bissouma. He also chose to freeze out last seasons top scorer. He chose to change our player of the season, Bergvall, from an 8 to a 10 and fuck his development.

I’m not pushing for Slott but I think he’d definitely get more out of this squad.

You say get a caretaker but it isn't that easy, who do we turn to?

Maresca essentially resigned, and Amorim orchestrated an exit by blowing up. Frank is playing the game and wants to stay so, as long as Frank doesn't lose 3 or 4 on the trot, he will probably stay until the summer when it's easy to hire a proper manager.

I'd sack Frank now, as the writing is on the wall, but I just think the board will leave it as long as possible. Also, because any transfer targets we want to sign this window, we need to give off some semblance of stability and a plan.

That said, I do think they would be making a mistake. The season could be salvagable as it's tight, if we sacked Frank now, but that only works if we have a decent replacement to come in.
Again, feckin anyone. Not our decision. I'd take feckin Southgate til the end of the season if it meant getting off Frank. Also don't think it's a bad shout for getting a good atmosphere intontue changing room. And if you know much I dislike him, you'd be shocked at my suggestion. Feck, even OGS til the end of the year.

I'd want him gone now, with a manager that has has at least the playing style of what the club wants as a caretaker. This can't go on any longer or the rot will get deeper. Players have checked out, fans are now too. We need to strengthen in January, but there is zero point in doing it while he's in charge.

Fair chance we paid more in wages for Bale on loan than we have for all three of those combined

Awww did I hurt your little feelings tranny? Go to your hairy daddy and see if he can make you feel better. Your papa feels you.
The lady doth protest too much. You're enamoured with trans people. I'd say, like the rest of you and your bigot pals, your porn search history doesn't reflect what you speak of.
Imagine having to tell strangers on the internet you're a hard lad.... Big 13 year old, or much likely in your case, someome that never excelled in education, energy.

Unfortunately for you, I'm a cis man. I'm just not afraid of everything outside, because I don't understand it.

Fair, but Muani is a loan and was not fit for most games. I've never rated Palinha....
Only one I was excited for was Simons... but damn......damn...........damn....

Freezing out a completely ill-disciplined Bissouma was the right thing. Absolutely not a role-model for our younger players.

Nevermind, I've found at least some of the relevant data on FBREF from previous seasons actually. Cool.

Some definitions and clarifications:
  • Long balls: Passes longer than 30 yards [attempted]
  • Short passes: Passes betwen 5-15 yards [attempted]
  • Touch 1/3---> Number of touches inside the opponents' final third
  • Pass 1/3 ----> Number of accurate passes that land inside the opponents' final third
  • PassPen: Number of accurate passes that land inside the opponents' penalty area
  • Progressive passes: See this
  • ProgDist----> Progressive passing distance: Combined distance covered by all progressive passes a team successfully played
My takeaways:
  1. I stand by my earlier opinion regarding Frank's footballing brain being hardwired in a way that will always lead him to favour long balls / direct play over short passes / possession play. 22/23 in particular where Brentford were 2nd and 19th respectively in number of long balls and short passes attempted strongly confirms this, and the overall data also point in that direction.
  2. Touches & passes inside the final third and the penalty area also suggest a team that struggled to get there, and/or were also quite direct once they got there.
  3. They were also below average overall, and one of the worst in the league during the first 2 seasons in particular, in progressive passing.
  4. The discrepancy in 24/25 between number of progressive passes (11th) and the overall distance those passes covered (5th) is definitely a conundrum. My ill-informed guess is that they were landing their medium-long range passes at a higher rate than usual: Boosting the latter without doing much for the former. And there is some tentative evidence in favour of this guess actually : They were 16th, 13th and 12th in long ball success rate during their first 3 seasons; only to jump to 6th in 24/25.
There is room for improvement, but even the improved version most likely wouldn't be something fundamentally different than this.
