Rather lose all of those and he get an idea where the problems are, than win them all and get found out in the league and real cups.
I'd agree with that, apart from the bit about losing the Supercup. I know it's maybe not as prestigious as the European Cup or the Uefa/Europa Cup, but it's still a European trophy. Previous winners like Villa and Forrest still claim it in their trophy count.

The results of the other pre-season games are pretty irrelevant really (well, except perhaps the Woolwich one...) they just give Thomas Frank the chance to run his eye over the squad.

It's the league he'll be judged on.

That holiday he’s taken is a sabbatical or what?

Although, in fairness if I was taking on this mad house, I’d want to be fully rested before I start.

Especially now with the Chairman coming out and saying the target is the PL and CL titles…. No pressure Thomas.

I want every manager to work, even if I have my doubts.

Even if things aren't going great, I'm looking for seeds of improvement to have hope.
You could see it with some but it was pretty much all downhill for this one. First 10 games were nothing more than an unknown quantity. We struggled to beat a useless Sheff United and a 9 man Liverpool in that period, let's not forget.
We also drew 2-2 away to Brentford and looked a bit shakey away to Bournemouth with their newly appointed Iraola.

I'm happy for Frank to go the other way tbh. If we get off to another 10 game flyer it may mask problems and everyone gets too carried away.
I'd almost rather we had a mundane start. The way things are I'd say a few 0-0's, 1-0's and 0-1's tbh.

I've thought for years and years that even an attacking team is built on a strong, dependable defence. If the forwards trust the defence, they can be more adventurous.
Just don't look at the starts he made with Brondby and Brentford!
