It wouldn't happen. Levy wouldn't buy him that much better of players. He thinks, and many fans think as well, that Thomas will improve the squad because of his tactical know-how. So now he should show he can. So, no, no excuse at all if that means people can only realise the uphill battle Ange has faced previously.
Gotta be honest.... I always relish the chance to beat the scum whenever (such that every NLD is); but as a pre-season game we can do without the additional emotional baggage ; esp. whilst we're in such an embryonic stage........... Tough one for Thomas so soon after taking over.

Early doors I know, but it’s nice not to be cringing at the sarky answers the manager is dealing out.
Hopefully the players can raise their game given the opposition.
Haven't been this underwhelmed going into a Premier League season since 2021 under Nuno. Just feels like we are nowhere near competing.
Frank will make us hard to beat but I don't think we'll play entertaining football. I just feel so underwhelmed. Top 6 and no trophy is probably a good season? Must be the lowest expectations we've had since pre Harry Redknapp. I know we came 17th last year so finishing top half is a big improvement but fuck me its so meh. We are so far off competing again!

a) Clear he can see exactly what parts went wrong today, which is comforting. Well on top of the issues.
b) Super pleased he's being cautious with knocks and not pushing players out there with them.
c) How tf is Milesey still stinking up the place with his turgid interviews? lol Stick him in an office somewhere. Don't have to take his livelihood, just backroom him and give the other guys the reigns. Much more vitality.
Give the bloke a chance....can't expect immediate results..I'm still optimistic..

I will give him a chance. I was just underwhelmed when we hired him and since then I've seen little to change my main.
Professional character who brought his whole coaching team with him. He'll set us up very pragmatic and we'll be hard to beat. I just think thats our ceiling under him. Top 6 maybe top 4 with a bit of luck and no hope of trophies or competing for the big prizes. Hope he proves me wrong. But I don't think the club will help him anyway. We aren't signing top players. We just want the top 4 cycle.
I'd be happy with top 4 this season. Give us a 2nd pop at the CL...

So would I but no chance of that lets face it. Be lucky to make top 8 and qualify for the conference league!
I think the furthest Frank can take us is maybe making the top 4 in the next 3 seasons.
Its so underwhelming. Its 2025 and this is where we are at. Fuck me we were competing for the PL and CL under Poch back in 2016-2019.
It would be an epic miracle if we finished any higher than 6th. Everything screams Levy is happy with minimal investment and top 8, meekly scraping into Europe again. It’s the business model he loves best.
I like Frank, but it’s serious Gerry Francis levels at the moment.
I think it's been a reasonable transfer period so far..
You've got to have hope mate....it's very early days...I'm looking forward to seeing how well we perform against psg..
