Only just realised he's President of FC Porto now

I’ve just been messaged by a mate who reckons Marco Silva wants us!

Reliable source but I’ve no idea myself

I'm not surprised Silva does. He's been trying to work his way up ever since he landed in England. Probably made a mistake going to Everton as people probably thought he did a shit job there, but Ancelotti barely improved things after he replaced him.

He's been decent at Fulham and I think he'd perhaps be more strongly linked if he had picked his previous clubs a bit more wisely.

I’m not gonna pretend like I watch Brentford play. But the one thing I like is that when I look up Frank’s tactics it says he plays 443 or a 343 or 352 which means he’s flexible and pragmatic. And the fact that Ange was neither pragmatic nor flexible is what cost him his job.
Tactical, flexible, pragmatic when he needs to be, progressive in general, caters to players abilities, likes aggressive football, shapes the team and tunes it to get the best out of it game to game.

He's a manager with a comprehensive tool set who sees the game holistically.

After a tactically clueless one-dimensional flat track bully, I can't fucking wait.

There was Dortmund links a few months ago, that felt like a really good fit.. Before I saw any real links with us, I wanted to see him go there and do well.
Not surprised.

I think we'd be getting in there just in time.

If Amorim continues in the same vein next season, I wouldn't have be surprised if they went for him as well.

Manure streamers were already calling for him to be brought in at the end of the season.

He probably is. Well educated and very clever guy.
He came to England a few years too early. He was written off by the old guard press and the horrible bastards in the Chelsea dressing room as too young, not able to take on the job.. And at that point he didn't have the "gravitas" to debunk it.

If he stayed at Porto a few more years, I feel that the way he'd be spoken about as a coach in this country would be different. Not that he'd be Mourinho or anything. But he'd have had been better equipped to have had a better go of it than he did.

I can't think of any.

Ange one is obvious
Conte wanted to work remotely
Nuno never had the dressing room (see Joe Hart's interview).
Mourinho lost the dressing room
Poch spent a calendar year boasting about how he'd leave us for Man Utd whilst losing as much as he could
AVB gave up after being spanked religiously by Liverpool and City
Redknapp (by his own admission) made his own grave by managing England before he was actually interviewed.

Not sure what I missed.

No issues working it out - he's sharped his sword in leagues where the athleticism is far lower, and has built his philosophy on not having a Plan B (as attested to by many of his colleagues)

People bang on about Levy sacking too many coaches but they all, ultimately, deserved it.
The question isn't why he keeps sacking them, it's why he keeps employing duds.
I don't expect even good coaches to last 5 years these days. But why is he so happy hiring no hopers like Santini, like Ramos, like AVB, like Nono and yes, even some aussie wally who's never managed in a grown up league.

Thankfully the championship is better than the SPL

I was reading an article about Ange earlier and was shocked when it said that the SPL is something like 33rd in world football ranking. The J League in Japan is 17th!

Ange completed the J-League too. :chicco:

(More seriously though.... My point was I don't honestly believe we ever truly saw Angeball as fully advertised; just some hodge-podge of a high line with inverted fullbacks whilst the wing &MF play didn't resemble his Celtic........ )

He was a fraud

Doesn’t matter who he hires
