Fucking stress from being a spurs fan
automatic sin bin for mentioning the last manager? who's with me?
Yep!
Most of us weren’t expecting to beat Chelsea. The record and availability of players says we’d have been lucky to get a point. The press are getting so hung up on style of football at the minute and that to me isn't the point. The fans are not so naive as to think that with our attacking options we should be gung ho and cavalier against Chelsea . I think that most fans would swallow mid block and counter against those team for the short to medium term (not permanantly of course and not against Wolves or that Villa team).
The problem is we didn't counter attack . A couple times we won the ball back in their half... and someone put their foot on the ball even though there was space to try and hurt them, and the ball ended up back at the feet of Vicario. It's a lack of intent that's bothering the fans, not a lack of style.
I think our current position is a reflection of the opposition we have played. It's been a pretty soft schedule so far and we are now facing a run of tough games. 2 points separate us in 5th and Villa in 11th. With Man U (H), Woolwich (A) and Newcastle (A) to play in 3 of our next 4 (Fulham at home ain't a banker) we can easily be in lower half of table as we roll into December. I hear what your saying about the Newcastle performance yesterday but let me flip that for a second... does it not alarm you that a manager we sacked, who has been at West Ham for just over a month and has a squad far worse than ours, had them playing free flowing attacking football yesterday against a team playing in the Champions League. They could have scored six and I don't think Newcastle could have complained. Frank has had nearly six months now, with a far more expensive squad and we look like a team that met in the car park half an hour before kick off. I know two situations are never the same but other than Bowen and Paqueta at a push, none of their team would get into ours even with all our injuries. So why can't Frank get a tune out of these players? The easy answer will be he should have bought Paqueta instead of Simons. In hindsight maybe, but if you gave every Spurs fan that choice back in the summer, 99% would go with Simons every time. Frank is (as I suspected) out of his depth and if we don't win tomorrow, and then lose on Saturday then the club needs to act during the international break. Whether "act" means sack him or whether it means giving him a short term target I'll leave to you, but the status quo can't continue.Yes I am probably quite optimistic, but I don’t think things are as bad as some are making out either given we’re 5th.
I would be more worried if I was a Villa or Newcastle fan, their managers have been with them for a long time now and have spent a lot of money yet despite both beating us, they sit behind us in the league and are both very Jekyll and hide. Newcastles performance yesterday as just as bad as ours on Saturday, they capitulated to the second worst side in the league
Which is what Micky & Spence alluded to when allegedly apologising to Frank post match.Glasner took a while to get his first win. Same as Iraola. They both got given the time to implement their ways to the squad.
The state of our fan base, we’d want them gone if they didn’t win in their first 5 games. Our fans are just a bigger problem as everything else.
The frustrating thing is Simons could very well turn out to be the right choice, but when does he turn the corner? If you look at the highlight reels from his past teams he is creating on the move, but Spurs aren't creative off turnovers. And, where Maddison would seek out the ball and create between the lines in the final third, Simons isn't making himself available nearly so much. Simons, when he plays well, is one of those players who will make plays that make you think he's greedy with the ball. But you actually want to see him in that mode within reason. I think it will come together for him, but just now he's not nearly there.I think our current position is a reflection of the opposition we have played. And the right players! No.
He's actually correct, and Brentford got lorded for some fantastic attacking displays last season.
But it takes time.
It's more of a case of not wanting to spend what it takes to get players who are near guaranteed to be successes so we shop a couple of rungs down and hope that they turn out to be a success. The recruitment is a massive problem. We need to stop over spending on mediocre players...ie Richarlison/Johnson.
Good teams go deep in/win cups and stay near the top of the league. He also has the only major trophy in 40 years.
I'm sure Poch loves his collection of top 4 trophies mind you.
Sport is about winning, not coming 4th.
Since Richarlison joined for £60m in 2022, he’s played 106 of Spurs’ 166 games (starting 59 of them) and scored 23 times
