Even though the opposition were not top tier and probably under performed a bit, I won't use that to take away from a very good team performance. We need to use this game as a springboard against United. Win that game in similar vein and we can go into the International break on a high and prepare for those nomad cunts.
There was a time we wouldn't win these games...took us extra time to beat Tamworth...I think we're consistently going to beat these lower tier teams convincingly...

Looking at how we setup yesterday things looked much more better. Yes it was Copenhagen BUT frank seemed to revert back to how we played (and played well) in pre-season.

Almost a back 3 with porro, romero and vdv to utilise the passing abilities of porro and cuti and the physical prowess of vdv.

Udogie holding width higher and linking play in the middle and final thirds. He is so so good at physically dominating that left hand side. This allows the left winger to play as a second 10 and johnson occupying the right hand side high right looking for those opportunities to be played in behind.

It just works so much better, more players in the right areas to affect play in the ways that suit them best. Yesterday's setup was exactly what I expected from frank from the start and as I say most of the preseason games had us setup in this way but then it suddenly changed to a more rigid setup.

Id like it to continue going forwards.

assuming we won’t sack the jug eared, floppy haired fraud this month, and assuming we lose the next 3 or 4 we need to bring in a number 2 that understands attacking football, as opposed to this complete Scandinavian nerd with zero football IQ. He’s lost the dressing room, he needs someone to carry it for him.

Keep him away from the first team all week at training and bring him in to do the press stuff, and allow real football men to do the hard graft

I see what you did there...

The jury could be out a while for me....no idea if his methods/philosophy will take us forward or not but he does sometimes resemble a bit of a forlorn figure on the touchline at times.

It's not a good sign for influential players to publicly snub managers' regardless of the apologies that tend to follow.

Not Frank's fault how looks of course, it simply makes it easier for his detractors to mock whenever the camera pans to him and it's like watching a Mr Bean lookalike masticating on steroids.

What he said about Dane made no sense at all. He said he is a great finisher with left foot and right foot, but he can't get a run of games at the moment because of the competition ... what? Where are all these strikers we have that are clinical in front of goal? Then he said to move to the next level he needs to play minutes ... well fucking pick him then!!!!!!

I agree the whole team was pretty much awful on Saturday. I dug out Palhinha not because he did anything wrong in particular, rather his strengths are defensive, and that's all good and well in certain matches but these games when the team only have one shot on target require a more progressive player
Think I mentioned a while back bayern axed palhinha as kompany thought he held up dynamic of team. At this stage we need palhinha. I'd sacrifice bentacur tomorrow instead.

He's not the best passer so once he's done his job of winning the ball, the other players need to make themselves available for a relatively simply pass. There's no point them running into a forward position where a slide-rule or well timed and executed pass is the only way to get the ball to them, when Palhinha is in possession. Somebody needs to come deep and offer themselves for a relatively simple pass, and then they can attempt a cutting pass for players in a more forward position.

I'm not posting this as a means to slag off Palhinha but his teammates need to understand his strengths and weaknesses. It's part of the reason why the team seems to be disjointed at times, and the ball ends up being played back to the CBs or Vicario.

Tbh I'd play palhinha ahead of bentacur at home.
Need a nuts and bolts player. Bentacur is good away from home as cools the situation down in tense moments. Bentacur and palhinha are fine for away games but not both at home imo.

I hope he keep getting us wins. Because the way how VdV, Spence and Xavi snubbing him whenever they feel like, and how he couldn't possibly give Scarlett minutes and wasting on Richy showed me he lacks that bit of authority in the dressing room. It really wouldn't take long for the players and fans to lose faith in him when things go south IMHO.

That little snub Spence and VDV gave him still doesn't sit right with me.

I know Frank played it down, and most fans have done likewise.

But it was a little sign that maybe Frank lacks a little authority at present.

I really like him and hope he handled the situation firmly behind closed doors

Udogie’s fitness really does dictate how we are going to play. Got to sign another left back in January to help while he is out.
