For potential, yeah. He’s not a top player right now though - could be. Porro in the right system maybe but he’s just a less good Spanish trent if we’re being brutal.

Maddison is very good, at his best probably Eze level? But more fragile and easier to bully out of a game because he’s so weedy without a low centre of gravity.

The rest range from some potential (Bergvall.. Spence maybe although I’m very unsure on him) to just outright crap.

The likes of Kudus & Vicario fall in to the would be solid mid table players category. Kudus maybe a bit more than that (see first season at West Ham) as I think he’s fallen foul of terrible support.

Udogie has shown me enough to suggest he's worthy of the FIFA "exciting prospect" tag.

Maddison is an absolute superstar in FC 24 for me - much better than he is in real life although he is for sure our most technically talented player and the one I miss the most.

but yeah our back 5 can compete with most teams. The rest of the squad can't.

Still better than where Poch was at this point in his first season:

Place: 9th v 10th
Points: 18 v 17
GS: 20 v 16
GC: 14 v 17

I’m not sure the performances ever got this bad under Pochettino. Chelsea & Woolwich are diabolically bad derby showings. We weren’t present for the games.

We also have some really tough fixtures in the near future. Palace, Forest, Brentford, Newcastle away. Liverpool at home.

I think we as a fanbase just might have to accept being a bit shit for the foreseeable. Our new place might be occasional top 6 but that’s it. Other, more ambitious owners have arrived and will push spending boundaries & are more creative and risk taking.

We are just a super stale, corporate outfit with no footballing ethos or identity. Most of our creativity and ingenuity is focused on business related off field projects. On the field there is no conceivable plan. We scream somewhat expensively assembled mid table outfit.

Maddison can pick a pass and strike a ball and play a quick passing game which instantly elevates him. Frankly whoever the next coach is* will probably be desperate to have him back & if he’s a possession oriented one will have him and Simons playing together so we can actually see ball retention.

I also don’t think Solanke is a bad PL striker either but he’s probably got a lethal dose of radiation or something.

But yeah it’s pretty much how I summed our team up a while back - couple of excellent centre backs, some athletic fullbacks and then a sprinkling of decent to good elsewhere. That ain’t guaranteeing you top 6 in this league anymore.

Especially not with such a plodding midfield. Like seriously one pace and pedestrian. Most important area of a football pitch FFS.

I was pro Frank being appointed because I believed he was a top tactician which saw a small club like Brentford survive in The PL and take some big scalps, but after witnessing a dozen premiership games under him I'm now seeing a timid one dimensional figure who seems so frightened of loosing a game and upsetting senior players to the point where its becoming self-destructive.

For me to continue to support him, he needs to grow a pair and quick!

To do that he has to have some authority over player power. He doesn't have the pedigree do that. Rumors are even Xabi Alonso a bonafide legend of club, Spanish and World football may have lost the dressing room at Real. Player power is a scourge on the modern game. The Manager is King, but so easily overthrown and undermined

Slot has lost 6 out of 7 in the league. I’ve never heard of a Liverpool run of results that bad in my lifetime.
If any of our managers had that record media would have had them sacked by now. And none of ours spent 400 million in a window!
Shows just how quickly formerly world class players' form can drop at the end of their careers- VVD and Salah- and how trying to stubbornly stick with them can quickly sink your ship as well...

We got thumped by Liverpool, City, and Chelsea in Poch's first 14 matches.

People really forget that he wasn't immediately "magic".

Harry, similarly, took some time to push things on.

Best 1st seasons in recent memory? Jose and Ange.

If it carries on the way it’s going, especially at home, he’s gonna need a Kane free kick, VS Villa moment, to save himself.

...but ...but- what about their XGs?

Poch's first 12 games:

Spurs xG 18.26 - xGA 17.1

Tellingly the last 5 games of that 12 game run Spurs xG went like this: 2,32; 2.04; 2.54; 1,25; 2.16

Simple math will indicate the considerable improvement that must represent on the previous 7 games.

Postecoglou's first 12 games season 1.

Spurs xG 21.61 - xGA 18.89

Postecoglou's first 12 games season 2:

Spurs xG of 26.44, and an xGA of 16,52..

Frank's first 12 league games

Spurs have an xG of 12.78 and an xGA of 17.12

Hope that helps.... clarify things for you?

I'd suggest Derangers take note of the Postecoglou second season metrics. That helps explain why I've been trying to help you people out of your psychosis and back to reality.

No worries about points I guess, or statistical ranges and small sets, or different year different league kind of stuff, eh?

Elbows in all the way, damn the torpedoes!

It wasn't nearly as bad as this. There were flashes of good stuff, there was some excitement, Frank ball has been excrement.

I didn't want Poch sacked then. That would've been too early. But it was pretty obvious from Nuno's short spell, and Frank's that they are cometely out of their depth at a bigger club, and removing quickly is the best course of action. You can dress a turd up as much as you like, it's still a turd.

The point isn't just bringing in any old manager, though.

If things get worse under Frank and we can actually get someone like Hoeneß mid-season and think he's our guy long term then sure, fuck it, let's go.

In reality I think our absolute best bet is gonna be someone like Marco Silva who's another "meh" manager that will probably do better than Frank but also someone we'll be looking to replace before too long.

My main reason for backing Frank atm, ironically, isn't anything to do with Frank. It's so we're actually in a position to attract a decent manager in the summer who we can give a full pre-season and the best chance of succeeding.

Bringing in the wrong guy or a stop-gap right now is worse than sticking with Frank imo, hence I think we should stick it out with him as long as we can. Of course, if things get completely untenable he's gonna have to go, but until then I think we just ride it out and hope he can somehow get things working. And if we finish mid-table and performances don't significantly improve we bin him in the summer and give the new guy a proper chance.
Silva a big NO

Spurs not only hired Frank, but they also hired almost the entire Brentford staff. A group that finished 17th and 10th, never played in Europe and never had a decent cup run.

Of course, every coach has to start somewhere, but Frank had done nothing of merit for Spurs to expect him to coach a winning team.

At Brentford, the tactic was to sit back, surrender the ball and lump it long and chase at any given chance. What was the club's expectation when hiring him? Did he promise attacking football?

Meanwhile, they sacked the guy that finished 5th with an injury ravaged squad and won the clubs first major trophy in 40 years.

Comedy of errors.
Agree with almost everything bar las para.

We either get a top LW or nothing will change- it's really that simple.

Frank could glean some improvement out of this squad though if he would just commit to starting Tel over Richy, and Bergvall/Sarr over Bentancur. So frustrating that he wants to persist with that shit tactic.
No Tel but Xavi and change the formation. Also I’d just give Sarr gray and berg their heads and let them go out and show if they can be better than the old guard. Nothing to lose, why not develop these guys.

What gives you any indication we'll be better? We conceded less goals by way of outrageous luck. Nothing more.

We're absolutely dreadful in every area of the pitch, like no redeeming qualities what so ever. Yet, you still think it's going to change? I can't remember another manager who's been afforded such leeway.

Very obvious he's a very poor for here. Might be a great coach, but it's not going to be here. Completely out of his depth.
Great coach? Please use the word wisely. Great coach is pep or klopp.
