The bolded bottom bit is what was so maddening. I'm no tactical savant (obvs) and I figured out what we were doing wrong at least a year ago. There's no way someone who has spent their entire career in football couldn't see it...which meant he simply did not care. It didnt fit his philosophy and his philosophy was more important than our results (until he realized winning the EL was the only chance he had at avoiding the sack - then self preservation became more important than his philosophy)
Fans are called flip flops but surely Ange did a 360 spin.
What gets me is he binned off the league to concentrate on Europa however he also binned off his football philosophy. Was he that insecure and lacking self belief in his own mantra that he couldn’t beat the likes of bodo glint playing attacking football. I’m sure with a fresh starting 11 we could have actually tried to play football. Yet I’m sure from q/f onwards we ceeded the ball in every game. In the final we could barely muster a counter and that was with his preferred starting 11. Really says a lot after two years of drumming in his ethos and philosophy that we could even string 5 passes together.

Has he not been announced yet?

Longer this goes on, the more it makes me nervous that we'll get dumped at the alter and be scrabbling around for our next target.

Would like the new manager to at the very least provide a list of transfer targets that Levy can then turn down before we sign some 16 year old San Marino forward as 'One for the future' on deadline day.

The final was an example of good management. United would have spent all their time preparing to close us down from the keeper and bully our players off the ball - punishing our errors. Instead, we played long from the back and let them have the ball.

Without Kulu, Madisson and Bergvall we were lacking creativity in the middle of the park. Son was our only attacking game changer on the bench. Therefore, it we imperative that at no point would we want to chase the game and be the ones looking for a goal.

With our best defenders available, we were confident that we could sit back and defend the lead. Keep bruno off the ball, and double up on Maguire during set pieces. Many of their pacey/flair players were crowded and bullied off the ball, with only Marzouni looking like he could create something.

Fucking talking about our ex manager in this thread when he's got his own dedicated thread you utter weirdos, I'm convinced some of you have problems

It was mentioned that there was a club review were the coaching and medical management was an issue so the club appears to have learned by seeking Frank and his coaching staff and physios to come wit him. Football management is no longer a one man show.
Yup. And managers who think that they are going to come into a club and have 100% control are going to start getting left in the dust.

Hell, even Poch struggled with this, as much as I loved his time here. Not in regards to the coaching aspects, but he wanted control in regards to transfers as well. But a modern day football manager doesn't have the time to take part in scouting and recruitment to that extent.

I assume Levy is busy haggling for a month over trying to make the £10 million compensation £8 million.

Then in four months pay off his 20th manager.

Seems to me other clubs just get on with it. Identify a target and next day he’s announced.

Not Spurs though, let’s drag things on for a while longer….at the same time the transfer window is open…mmmmm!

And yet there are still 6 or 7 teams who invest more. Wages is the best predictor of league position. We only spend 40% of revenue on player wages. If we spent 60% we could upgrade 4 or 5 £100k a week players to £300k per week players. I’m thinking the likes of Johnson, Bissouma, Davies, Odobert, Richarlison. We can seriously upgrade those players and be a much, much more competitive team. Even with injuries.
Whilst I'm loathe to suggest that throwing even MORE money at multi millionaires in their early-mid '20s is a good idea, it's kinda where we're at with modern football...
The transfer fee is one thing (and the bit the media fawn over) but yes, it IS wages and the sheer astronomical amount that really makes the difference between a Wirtz or a Wurst!

If LEVY won't throw money at it....
Get someone in who will!

Ange ball was real. Only it disappeared when Chris Davies started taking a step back ever since he started getting offers from Jan 2024 onwards

In all honesty, we have not really played with inverted fullbacks 'properly' since he left. In 2024/25, we played a water down version of it. Porro & Udogie used to be so much involved in build up phase so much in Ange first 6-8 months. But after that, we dont have a buildup phase.
You mean the first 10 games. And then the gaping holes and high line got sussed out. Right?

You'd be wrong tho.

Perhaps you don't member (eg) the mess the scum got into when firing Emre.

.....That many clubs find themselves hiring interim mangers cos for various reasons the next guy isn't lined up.

Quick trfs are also the minority.

Basically when one finds themselves thinking "only spurs......"; it's rarely true.

Nothing to do with our new manager, but it comes from Australia, so...

No, I don’t recall what they got up to and that’s probably due to the fact I have zero interest in them.

The media has been reporting its Frank since Friday, just get on with it!

Apparently the hold up is the backroom staff, we want to take a key member that Brentford has outlined to takeover from Frank should he leave.

I understand why the delay if this is the case.
