Like "country" music, its all fake now. Pop music and hip hop with forced fake accents. Wildly drunken Bachelorette parties screaming incessantly outside all new megaclubs that are all hype. Still some good troubadors on Broadway, but you're unlikely to really see one anymore.

Outside of the caricature of honky tonks that remain, its just the same bog standard generic US city. Hard to tell it from Charlotte or St. Louis or Cincinnati or Atlanta or Kansas City or Phoenix. Same city, different background.

Memphis might kill you, but its one of the few unique cities in the US still. NOLA, the NE Corridor metros, Chicago, LA, SF, Portland, Dallas, San Antonio, Miami, Orlando (only because of the mouse). Everything else is just the same place with different weather, I don't even feel like Houston has an original authenticity left anymore.
LA is an armpit. But you’re right about the rest.

And tbh

This squad is younger and refreshed, so that’s a fact.

This squad is in the CL now, so that’s a fact.

This squad does know and believe it can win major trophies, so that’s also a fact.

You’ll have to help me to see which opinion I’m stating there that isn’t a fact.

It’s the squad he led to 17th. Either the squad is not as good as you think or he’s even worse than we think. If we have this brilliant young squad, why were we so shit? It’s young yes, but incredibly raw, unproven and used to losing every week.

Yeah that just makes things harder for Frank. The CL is brutal. It isn’t the EL where you play Maribor and Qarabag. You play actual sides with actual budgets and then have to go play your league games.

Yeah this definitely proved so for Villareal, Frankfurt etc. This only works when you’re a team on the cusp of something and it breaks the barrier. Ours was a run due to a draw.

Lots of opinions masquerading as facts.

Just a bit more hair and you get…

Because Ange was bad you tit!

Is it your contention that Frank would be walking into a stronger situation in which he could more easily succeed if we'd lost in Bilbao? Game that out for me.

Interesting! I haven’t been but I’ve also never heard anyone mention Cincy in really any way, good or bad.
Cool beer and food scene, unassuming, extremely walkable (which is why it doesn't belong on Memphis' list), just a good vibes place generally.

We landed in the CL almost by accident, it's not as though the squad tore through the league and ranks anywhere in quality near the others in the CL places.

Frank also has to turn around this culture of losing and incoherence, bereft of any sort of game planning and tactics, and really a lack of expectation to bring results from the manager... who players said was just satisfied if they just played his way.

The CL will not let us stroll through as Europa did, and if we aren't to be trounced out in the group stage (or if we hope to be in the CL the following year) there's a lot of work to do.

17th. We are worse compared to our peers than we have been in how long? We will not be favourites to finish ahead of Newcastle, Villa etc. I imagine our league prediction for pundits will be 8th or lower - where was it pre Angeloss?

Facts don’t matter to you lot though so why bother.

This particular monkey is off the back and that, more than anything, gives Frank the space he needs to work with to improve the league standing.

We are a proper club. Huge support. Huge resources. This summer has shown what wining can do for us. The best taste and the best feeling since Wembley 1991. And hopefully the tip of the iceberg. If we can just get ourselves in order, then we’re well set up to be a dominating force in English football. No other club has the heritage and hold that we have. No other club would be starved of success for so long but sell out 62k every week to watch mediocrity at best. I’m hoping that the Board realise how lucky they are to have such an asset and such an institution in their grasp. I fucking hate the cunts but together we have to be pushing for the very top now.
