In my opinion, this is a great appointment.

We gave a young talented squad which needs organising. To he honest I'd not bring many in, I'd develop the players we have and Feank appears to be the man to do this. Good tines ahead.

I agree it's a good appointment.

But I'd be interested to see who else agrees we don't need to do much business in the transfer market? :cautious: :D

We need to do more than we would have done if we didn’t qualify for the CL… that’s a bit of a double edged sword.

But mainly, we need to be going big on players that maybe aren’t quite elite club level but a bit under.

We probably won’t land a Barcola, Simon’s etc but we should certainly be trying with huge wage packages etc now that Son’s on his way out and we’ve lost Kane.

This club needs figurehead stars.

Frank has been hired precisely on the theory that he can generate figurehead stars without needing to resort to buying them pre-made, something that is antithetical to the chairman's deepest convictions.

Frank might well pull it off, too.

But THAT is why this is a difficult, unfavorable job to be walking into, not the heroic efforts of the poor bastards who have been trying to roll this stone up the hill for decades.

I can't belive there's a cunt off and we actually got our man. Honestly I'm looking to a LESS poisonous culture here now that Postecoglou is gone. Seriously he was definitely responsible for what happened to the fan base its another thing I loathe about him. He's a full on demagogue. He had all the rhetoric all the emotional manipulation. He was straight out of crowds and power. He was certainly a man for the online age. Hopefully we get much less performative BS from Frank...oh and some actual high end coaching, and much more civility among the fans.

Really pissed off I didn't come up with this.

Obvious and genius.

Calls for unity then launches into yet another Ange character assassination is certainly a novel way of trying to bring the fan base together :D

We will never fix that rift. I really never liked him.. I think you know this. The guy was marmite, then there was overwhelming consensus he sucked, then we won a one off game and it went back to a civil war.

I don’t think it goes away for another couple of appointments unless Frank is a tremendous success.

He might need a bit more time than the usual 1.5-season lifespan our managers get if he’s going to pull it off.

I really can't be dealing with another Poch like yearning period.

It's simple enough fix I reckon - Ange Outers stop shitting on the EL and Ange Inners stop pretending it meant he absolutely had to stay.

It's not that hard but someone has to stop first :D

Anyone who thinks this guy is some sort of pushover, he seems to be getting pretty damned tasty with someone on the touchline @ 0.28 in this clip.

Can imagine the player holding him off going, "leave it, Frank, he's not worth it!!"

Also, Brentford fans must be in bits watching that.

There's a story I think I read from him earlier when he was talking about his time at Brondby and why that didn't work out.. He said that he was "Too nice" and tried to replicate the spirit he had in the Danish youth team in the Brondby senior team.. And he intimated that he wouldn't make the same mistake again (Wish I could find where I read it, so I could link it)

But i liked it.. Early failure is really good for a manager, provided they take the right lessons from it.

Personally, really happy that we've got this done now and we can start to look forward and build.

Incremental, positive steps forward with a coach that improves players and an effective coaching staff, I think it's a sensible and intriguing appointment for Tottenham. A man we can get behind and show support.

Frank is not just a manager. He’s a culture-builder, a tactical innovator, and a master of turning potential into purpose. We've chosen substance over spectacle.

Get behind your club for god sake and get on board.

Fuck off.

The EL doesn’t help Frank at all.

I think you are underestimating how much of an effect a young squad getting over the line in a big final will have on the players (even if you don't think it was a big achievement).

They will have a lot more confidence now and will be determined for more. The win brought the squad together after a horrific season.

Then just the small matter of a bigger transfer budget.

Maybe. But generally I think this logic only applies when teams are building something tangible and then get over the line. An out of nowhere cup win tends to just stay an out of nowhere cup win. See Portugal at the Euros, Villareal & Frankfurt winning the EL etc. It will probably give them more belief if Frank gets us to finals etc though.

Yeah of course the budget but we will have to tailor the budget around competing on two very hard fronts. Balancing CL + PL is seriously hard, much harder than the EL + PL. We have a good coach now which helps but it won’t be easy, we need reinforcements.

Ffs - like a really great supposedly "unifying" post then the bit in bold.

You simply don't get more "substance" than a FUCKING EUROPEAN TROPHY.

So you've just laid a fucking ball and chain around Frank's neck for anyone to drown him with right out of the gate.

Can we just stop this ffs. Ange won us a massive trophy. Thank you. Now he's gone and we welcome Thomas Frank and give him our full support because that is what supporters are supposed to fucking do.

It really is as simple as that. Ffs
