I have a really bad feeling about next season. Nothing to do with Frank. He'll be fine. I just think that people here seem to have fallen into accepting mediocrity as something to aspire to. So many comments here about being happy if we just show a bit of improvement in the league and vague, subjective, witterings about structure and lack of drama.

Yes, we were shit in the league in 24/25 but we also won a major trophy.

23/24 saw us finish 5th, an improvement over 22/23, yet a lot of people here were deeply unhappy with the new manager. A lot of those same people now seem to be suggesting that a 'top ten' finish would be great progress.

Like fuck it will.

Let's give Frank our full backing, let's agitate for the board to fully get behind him financially, and let's be unambiguously ambitious for what we expect from the team and the new manager. A top ten (5th to 10th) finish, with no silverware, is not good enough for a club our size.

Hands up all those people on here who 'have fallen into accepting that mediocrity is something to aspire to'...

Nobody is accepting mediocrity, but people are being realists. A brand new manager, trying to install a new mentality, with new players will take time to click.
To achieve top 4 and a trophy we'd have to hit the ground running straight away.
What are you suggesting? That if he doesn't make top 4 and win a trophy that he should be sacked?

It's about time we actually backed a manager for a longer stint at the club. This rotating managers every 2 years is not a viable way to operate as a football team

Read my post again. Nowhere did I say top 4 AND a trophy.

I've created some lyrics to the tune of Amazing Grace...

Corrected, but my point still stands that he needs to be given time.
Sections of the fanbase are demanding instant success from a brand new manager, when we've finished 4th once in the last 6 years and prior to this season hadn't won a trophy in 17.

So if you're saying that finishing 5th with no trophy is not satisfactory and potentially worthy of the sack, then I'd say its an unreasonable benchmark.

Top 6 would show significant improvement in the league, along with a couple of good cup runs. We could get knocked out by Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid in early rounds of all our cup comps.

2nd season is where we'd want to show progression on top 6 and making significant challenges for trophies.
