I think it restricts their peripheral vision so that they have to move their head to see where their players are. This results in more scanning and positional awareness for GKs.
Guessing here, but if they can't see the ball as clearly they have to focus on the body shape of the attacker and rely on anticipation more than reflex saves?

You didn’t watch the video then. The GK wore the glasses when playing out from the back and being pressed. The GK clearly was scanning a lot more by having to turn their head a lot more than usual. That’s why I posted what I did.
